Q of the D for Thursday 3/19

Its after midnight, so I feel comfortable posting this

How thoroughly do you clean your house? Are you a pull out the couch and vacuum type of gal, or do you sweep the crumbs under the rug?

I'm pretty anal about most cleaning, however, I HATEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE dusting. I really have to do this more often, b/c the back of some of my picture frames look pretty gross.

I hate dusting too, but what I hate more is knowing what that dust actually is, so I try and dust once a week....

Now that I'm unemployed and sitting here looking for jobs, the apartment sparkles! I feel like I have to pull my weight somehow since I'm not bringing home any bacon. This weeks task is storage and organization!

I also hate having to use the vacuum hose... like, I NEVER do under the couches unless someone with cat allergies is coming over. So bad.

I clean every Saturday and I am pretty thorough. I am actually least thorough with the vacuuming though. I got this super high powered vacuum and I can barely control it around my tiny apartment. I hate it, it is like a wrestling match BUT I am a hands and knees scrubber of every corner of the kitchen/bathroom.

I vacuum every day, wipe the table and counters down, sweep, and wash the sinks out everyday. I have OCD with some things. Dusting is another story. Maybe once a month. Its gross but I hate dusting.

I clean almost everyday, but do my 'big' cleaning on Friday or Saturdays. I clean under, over and in-between everything in the house. On my 'big' cleaning days, it takes me anywhere from 3 hours at the least to 4 hours to clean. Imagine what it would be like if I didn't do cleaning mid-week too!

I absolutely totally hate cleaning but when I get into it, I can be really particular about it. DH helps me so we move the couch, get under the bed, etc.

We have hardwood floors throughout our apartment and are in the market for a good vacuum cleaner that would work on all surfaces (thinking of the future).

I am pretty lazy for the most part, but that is because I save it all up for the weekend. I will end up using q-tips if I have to lol It's weird b/c one day I will leave crap all over the place, and then the weekend comes and I am in the bathroom cleaning the grout for hours lol :(

same here - i can be a little psycho at times - when something comes up during the week and i cant get my regular cleaning session in i get really moody and cranky - if i feel like the house isnt clean i get in a really bad mood over it i think its partly an OCD thing with me though - i clean a lot and i move the couches, i even vacuum the top of the bed when i change the sheets i disinfect the cabinet handles and doorknobs.....lysol everything - a bit neurotic

I clean a little each day.... it makes me feel better than saving it all up for one day, b/c then it will take me forever and it is like a waste of a day for me.

Dusting, that is a whole other story..I HATE IT!

I wouldn't say I brush crumbs under the rug, but I don't move the couch either. I do move the coffee tables and other things that I can move. I'm good with dusting (including picture frames and lamps) because I have a bad allergy to dust mites. I do need to get better at dusting the ceiling fans though. Oh and pictures on the walls don't get dusted that often. I'm really bad about cleaning windows too.

ETS: I also steam clean the rug once a week.

I like to do a thorough cleaning once a week. That means moving eveerything and cleaning every room.

However because we have two places I clean almost everyday in the apt. in Queens and vaccumm thoroughly on Friday. I clean on Sunday's in the LI home while I do laundry.

i love cleaning. ok maybe not the bathroom but I'm pretty anal about dusting and sweeping and keeping the shower and sinks clean at all times.

our oven died the other night and we had to pull it out from the wall to unplug it...I was HORRIFIED at all the dust and crumbs under there..i went to work at once cleaning it up.

so i have to ask...do you guys move the fridge and the oven to clean behind/under there? or just let that slide?

i'd say that once a month i really get down and dirty with the cleaning... pull the couch out.... get on my hands and knees and scrub

other than that, i will do small spot cleaning here and there each week... like wipe the sinks down with lysol wipes or sweep the kitchen floor

Re: Q of the D for Thursday 3/19

Ok heres the skinny - I hate cleaning. Once I get into it, I do a GREAT job but its the getting into that is really hard. It takes DH and I 3-4 hours together to do our whole house top to bottom. That is 3-4 hours on a Saturday or Sunday and I hate wasting that time. I already go running every Saturday which is from 8:00-10:30 so I never feel like cleaning after that! Anyway, when I vacuum I can get under all the beds and 1 of the couches. The other couch we only move a few times a year to clean under it because its a sectional and annoying to take apart and move. Also DH is a great duster and does all the picture frames and everything hanging on the walls and the fake plants!

Anyway so we will do a big cleaning once a month, then have the cleaning lady come another week and then do some pick-up stuff in between. I wish we could do more but there just isnt enough time!
