Its after midnight, so I feel comfortable posting this
How thoroughly do you clean your house? Are you a pull out the couch and vacuum type of gal, or do you sweep the crumbs under the rug?
I'm pretty anal about most cleaning, however, I HATEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE dusting. I really have to do this more often, b/c the back of some of my picture frames look pretty gross.

I clean almost everyday, but do my 'big' cleaning on Friday or Saturdays. I clean under, over and in-between everything in the house. On my 'big' cleaning days, it takes me anywhere from 3 hours at the least to 4 hours to clean. Imagine what it would be like if I didn't do cleaning mid-week too!

Ok heres the skinny - I hate cleaning. Once I get into it, I do a GREAT job but its the getting into that is really hard. It takes DH and I 3-4 hours together to do our whole house top to bottom. That is 3-4 hours on a Saturday or Sunday and I hate wasting that time. I already go running every Saturday which is from 8:00-10:30 so I never feel like cleaning after that! Anyway, when I vacuum I can get under all the beds and 1 of the couches. The other couch we only move a few times a year to clean under it because its a sectional and annoying to take apart and move. Also DH is a great duster and does all the picture frames and everything hanging on the walls and the fake plants!
Anyway so we will do a big cleaning once a month, then have the cleaning lady come another week and then do some pick-up stuff in between. I wish we could do more but there just isnt enough time!
I hear you. I hate wasting my day to do all the clearning. I like doing it Friday when I get home from work.

I think I'm somewhere inbetween to be honest. Can my apartment take a white glove test? No. But I do regularly declutter and clean with a big clean biweekly. My schedule changes every week so it's hard to be on a weekly schedule.

Awesome I'm like the dirtiest one here. I can't believe you guys actually move your bed and vacuum under it. I could have a family of raccoons living under my bed for all I know.

same here - i can be a little psycho at times - when something comes up during the week and i cant get my regular cleaning session in i get really moody and cranky - if i feel like the house isnt clean i get in a really bad mood over it i think its partly an OCD thing with me though - i clean a lot and i move the couches, i even vacuum the top of the bed when i change the sheets i disinfect the cabinet handles and doorknobs.....lysol everything - a bit neurotic
LOL I'm the same way and my family and friends think I'm crazy! I can't help it..unless my house smells clean, it's NOT clean!

I like my house to be clean, but I'm not too anal about it. Like I straighten everything up (wiping down counters, putting things in its place, etc) daily. But vacuuming and dusting and all of that more intense cleaning is probably about twice a week (or when needed).

i hate cleaning bc i have horrible allergies and end up sniffling and sneezing all the rest of day so.....
DH and I usually do the big clean together to make it go faster and affect me less....
but we also do the little cleaning each night together.... i cook, we both pick up, he does the dishes, and i wipe the counters and set up the coffee maker, etc.....
before the wedding we had a cleaning lady which was great but we are saving every dollar now so no more cleaning lady for me

I am pretty crazy about cleaning. I clean up our living areas everyday. Saturday morning I do an extensive cleaning job. I hatttttttttttttttttttttttte laundry. I have to admit our room right now has 4 baskets on laundry that need to be put away. I just hate it so much. I can't go to sleep with dishes in the sink. DH is always yelling at me telling me 'they will be there in the morning, come to bed', but I just hate dishes so I always do them.

I love doing a thorough clean once a week. I dust with lemon or orange pledge and it makes our place smell so nice!

I hate dusting too and rarely do it...I would rather spray some Windex and wipe down the whole surface than take a dustcloth or swiffer to something lol. As far as cleaning in general I do:
kitchen counters, stovetop every day vacuum once a week clean out cat box entirely once a week dishes almost every day unless we eat out
So guess I am pretty clean but during the workweek I let things slide....when DH was FH he started having a cleaning lady come in twice a mo which is a great help....
DH takes out the recycling and garbage as needed.

I'd love a cleaning lady 2x a month. I have no idea how much that would cost though.

Re: Q of the D for Thursday 3/19
I used to think we did pretty thorough cleanings.
Until - we got red mildewy stuff on the shower floor. I forgot about the floor (5 months we've been in the house, not once did I clean the floor).
Plus I didn't even notice it b/c I don't wear my glasses or contacts in the shower. DH asked 'hun, what's this orange stuff on the floor?' as he was about to get in the shower.
I freaked out and made him wait (naked ) while I scrubbed the whole shower floor with bleach and a toothbrush. I can tell you that never again will I forget the floor.

I will bring out the vacuum once in awhile. I clean the toilet and wipe down the counters every weekend . I am not a huge fan of dusting but i did just get the Swiffer duster and I enjoy it. I also have some cleaners from WS that smell so good and makes me actually want to clean.

She is about $20/hour. It's worth it, I am exhausted when I get home from work and always end up on the couch lol.
