Ok so yesterday my mother told me that she was talking to a friend and that after 1 year photographers generally dump their proofs of your wedding. So she told me that you need to make an album before the one year mark..How true is this? it sounds so stupid to me..I just wanted to know if there is any validity to this..If there is I need to get my butt in gear..lol

Re: Question about photographer/ albums
i know my photographer keeps all our pictures on a disc just in case we lose our disc or something happens to it so in my case, no they do not get rid our pictures after a year. I can't imagine any of the photographers throwing out pictures after a year, that seems too soon but I could be wrong. Definitely call or e-mail your photographer to see if this is something they do if your concerned

Re: Question about photographer/ albums
I would think photogs keep all of their pics on external hard drives or disks. It's like their artwork (so to speak) I couldnt imagine throwing it out.
When i took a camera course, they Nikon guy who taught it does weddings and says he keeps ALL of his pics.
You can always ask them. Usually they dont get all their $ until they get your album so why would they throw them away and not be able to make their $$.

Re: Question about photographer/ albums
my brother and his wife got married almost 4 years ago and still havent gotten their albums yet but their pics are still available and ready (they went with Duet).
ETA: i think they just have to pay a fee though for having them on hold for so long.

Re: Question about photographer/ albums
They used my proofs to make my album. I had to give them the actual photographs they gave me as proof and once I got the album they returned them to me. But other place work differently, just call and ask you guy/gal.

Re: Question about photographer/ albums
Each place is different. My photographer gave me the proofs and I gave them the ones I chose for my album. They are giving those back to me when I get my album, along with a high-resolution disc with all the pics on it. Call to make sure.

Re: Question about photographer/ albums
I saw in my contract that it said 1 year. I am sure it depends on the photographer.
