Question for the BTDT crowd!!

With just 17 days to go, I am starting to panic about all the 'little' things - so please bear with me!!

Did you photographer have a 'policy' on others taking photos while they were shooting?? I can see how this can cause issues for the photographer (ie. you're looking at the wrong camera), but how is this generally handled??

Thanks!!!!

Karen

Re: Question for the BTDT crowd!!

That would be one of the things I would go back and correct - that our photographer was a bit more aggressive about asking other guests to hold off with their pictures until their done. Some have a clause in their contract about it. I would speak with them directly and tell them not to be shy about telling guests to cool it with the cameras. You are paying them a lot of money to record the day for you and you definitely want to get your money's worth.

I have EIGHT pictures of DH & I with my grandmother. She is looking in the camera in ONE of them.

Re: Question for the BTDT crowd!!

Ours did, but it may be a good idea. Not sure how you'd really communicate that to your guests though without being rude? Not sure.

For us, we always looked at our photographer's camera for pics - in most shots, the BP is too!

Re: Question for the BTDT crowd!!

MY suggestion after just getting out proofs back is to also make sure that the photographer knows what exactly you want taken. Even if they say they know all of the traditional shots, make sure you verbally tell them or have someone making sure. I don't know why but the whole bp was lined up on the steps of the church but that picture wasn't taken. Also in a lot of the pictures my train is not pulled out the right way. Don't get me wrong we have a lot of nice pictures but there are a bunch that could have been nicer.

Re: Question for the BTDT crowd!!

When in doubt....ALWAYS look at your photographers camera. Let your guests work around him/her. We have 4 family shots of my husbands side of the family and not one of them is his Dad looking at the photographers camera!!! We had to choose the lesser of the worst!! (if that makes sense) He was looking at everyone else taking pics!!

Re: Question for the BTDT crowd!!

We had so many people taking pictures, that I started to get a little p*ssed off. Finally, I just said, 'Everybody look at the BIG camera!' It was taking forever just to get some shots of my DH's family in front of the fireplace. This was my wedding day, and I was standing there for 15 minutes taking ONE picture??? It's ridiculous!

Not to mention the flash from the other cameras can screw up the exposure for your photographer.

I don't think there is a way to say this without being a little assertive. Some people might get offended, but you have to let them know the photographer needs room to work. After all, you're paying a lot of $$$ for those pictures.

I agree with the other post! Make SURE you give your photographer a list of must-get shots! I had one printed up but thought it was 'rude' to give it to my photographer...so I left it at home. There are lots of shots I didn't get because of that.

Good luck!

Re: Question for the BTDT crowd!!

my photographer didn't prohibit anyone from taking pictures while he was. And we didn't have any issues with it at all.

Its the photographers job to make sure they have the subjects attention before snapping the picture.

Re: Question for the BTDT crowd!!

thanks for your input ladies!!! my photographer does have a very strict policy about this, and i just wasn't sure how necessary it would be and how it goes over with the others - but you all made really good points about why it is necessary.

thanks again!!!
