Reading a book and it made me think -

Original post by EverlovingEv

are you and DH on the same page when it comes to kids? Like how many you want to have, when you want to have them etc...

(I'm reading Baby Proof btw)

DH and I both want kids but much later. Probably 2-3 years from now.

How about you?

No not really, he wants them like now or a year or two. I'm too friggin' scared of childbirth...I'm proscrastinating as long as I can on this one. Maybe 4-5 years. Hopefully it won't become an issue...Whenever he brings it up, I just make him feel guilty about how long he waited to ask me to marry him, and I tell him it's only fair for him to wait until I'm good and ready.

yep - we're definetly on the same page... we want to wait. being that i'm only 23, pursueing acting right now, and just enjoying being a newlywed, waiting is important to me. when we were dating dh always said he wanted a honeymoon baby but then his brother had twins & it TOTALLY changed his mind lol. we want to wait atleast another 4years... we both agree that if it did happen before then - of course we'd still be very happy..but for now we'd like to just enjoy each other for a little while..vacay a little more & just enjoy the spontanaity we can still take advantage of. kids are definetly something we both look forward too....just down the road a bit. i do think about it often though...which is why i'm glad dh now wants to wait - because i think if he didn't (and was still wanting to be an early daddy) i'd totally cave & wanna get preggo lol. but when i REALLY think about it, reality sets in & i'm like 'THIS is why i want to wait...'

Sort Off. We are both on the fence about having them and don't really plan to even talk about it for another 4 years. We are going to be older parents (I'll be almost 34 at that point and DH 49) and we are OK with that if we decide to have a child.

Dh and I have always been on the same page. We both want children and plenty of them. I want to be a stay at home mom while attending college and he wants me to do just that. I cant wait!! We both say whenever it happens it happens. God has a plan for us.

DH and I want to travel a lot before we have kids. We want to wait 3 years before we start trying. We both want 2 or 3 kids. I've never heard of the book.

DH and I don't want kids. I can see myself changing in a few years and getting baby fever and we have discussed that also. I just don't think I would be upset if it was just the two of us and a bunch of dogs forever. But I am also scared that I will wake up one day wondering 'why didnt we have kids?'

We always said no kids, but now I am trying to NOT say that just in case I change my mind. If I do change my mind I think he would be okay with it but he would never be the one to say 'ok we are ready NOW'

I am just so happy with our marriage right now I dont want to throw anything off balance.

We both want to wait a few years. We want to enjoy eachother, our marriage, and the ability to go out whenever we want and still sleep late! I think a time will come when we will be ready, but for right now we are not.

yup- we are on the same page- thank g-d!!! As of right now, I don't see kids in our future... that's not to say that in 10 years I won't change my mind.. BUT I honestly may not change my mind and DH is ok with that. I think he is ok with it either way- said that if we decide not to have kids that we better travel and take advantage of the situation which is fine with me... and if I change my mind somewhere down the road and get that maternal instinct then he is up for kids as well!! We spoke about it pretty early into our relationship, way before we got engaged so there were no suprises!

Sort of... We both definitely don't want kids for at least a few years. I am not sure that I want them ever, but not sure that I don't either, defnitely on the fence. DH is much more warm to the idea of having them ever, but he knows how I feel, so we will see.

I am terrified at the idea of having children for a number of reasons, but as I get older, the idea seems less far-fetched.
