Recipes Question

Hi ladies,

Does anyone have any good recipes for dips or spreads? Something that would go good on crackers or a bread?

Re: Recipes Question

There is a great garlicy bean dip DH has from a Giada Delaurentis cookbook. It is sooo good. She made it with Pita chips. I'll look for both recipes now

White Bean Dip with Pita Chips
Recipe courtesy Giada De Laurentiis
Prep Time: 15 min Inactive Prep Time: hr min Cook Time: 12 min Level:
Easy Serves:
6 servings Ingredients
1 (15-ounce) can cannellini beans, drained and rinsed
2 cloves garlic
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1/3 cup olive oil, plus 4 tablespoons
1/4 cup (loosely packed) fresh Italian parsley leaves
Salt
Freshly ground black pepper
6 pitas
1 teaspoon dried oregano
Directions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

Place the beans, garlic, lemon juice, 1/3 cup olive oil, and parsley in the work bowl of a food processor. Pulse until the mixture is coarsely chopped. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Transfer the bean puree to a small bowl.

Cut each pita in half and then into 8 wedges. Arrange the pita wedges on a large baking sheet. Pour the remaining oil over the pitas. Toss and spread out the wedges evenly. Sprinkle with the oregano, salt, and pepper. Bake for 8 to 12 minutes, or until toasted and golden in color.

Serve the pita toasts warm or at room temperature alongside the bean puree.

Re: Recipes Question

i LOVE making the Knorr spinach/veggie dip...it's right on the back of the box. I dig out a pumpernickle loaf(or any loaf) & put the dip in there for cute presentation, and use the removed bread for dipping. it's always a hit (although i skip on the waterchestnuts..not a fan)
-------------------------------------------------

PREP TIME: 10 Minute(s)
CHILL TIME: 2 Hour(s)

INGREDIENTS
1 package (10 oz.) frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
1 container (16 oz.) sour cream
1 cup Hellmann's® or Best Foods® Real Mayonnaise
1 package Knorr® Vegetable recipe mix
1 can (8 oz.) water chestnuts, drained and chopped (optional)

PREPARATION

Everyone loves our dip! Here's how we make it:
Combine all ingredients and chill about 2 hours. Serve with your favorite dippers to your favorite people.

A new serving idea: Hollow out cucumber slices and cherry tomatoes. Fill vegetables with Knorr Spinach Dip and garnish with a sprig of dill.

MAKES 4 cups dip
(**Tip: when chilling, chill in separate bowl..if u leave it in the bread bowl, the bread will get soggy..transfer to bread when ready to serve)

Re: Recipes Question

I make this dip usually for tortilla chips, but you can prob put it on crackers or something, also.

Ready for this? It's SO hard:

8oz of cream cheese, softened
8oz of salsa (whatever spiciness you like, I use Medium)

Mix them together with a hand mixer. Chill in the fridge before serving.

I know it sounds like a gross combo but it is SO good! If you have more time and want to make more of an impression, spread the dip into a platter. Chop up lettuce, tomato, and olives, and layer on top of the dip. Also add shredded cheddar cheese. It's SO yummy that way, too, but its more work

Re: Recipes Question

u can also do the classic bean dip...SO yummy..everyone always loves it..

8oz. bar softened cream cheese
1can hormel chilli w/beans
bag of shredded cheddar

---------------------------------------------

spread creamcheese across bottom of baking dish, then cover with chilli, then cover with cheese. Bake at 350 untill cheese is melted. Serve with Tortilla Scoops

SO hard right???? but OMG. DELISH.

Re: Recipes Question

Creamy Artichoke and Spinach Dip with Pita Chips

Butter for coating dish
2 - 14 oz cans artichoke heart,s drained and coarsely chopped
1 - 10 oz package frozen chopped spinach, thawed, all excess water squeezed out
6 oz parmesan cheese, freshly grated (About 1 1/2 cup)
3/4 cup mayonnaise
3/4 cup sour cream
1 clove garlic, minced
finely grated zest of 1 lemon
1 teaspoon bottled hot pepper sauce
salt
freshly ground black pepper
pita chips

1. Preheat oven to 375. Butter a 1 1/2 quart casserole dish; set aside.

2. In a medium bowl, stir together the remaining ingredients except the pita chips. Spoon the artichoke mixture into the prepared casserole. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until golden. Serve hot or warm with pita chips.

(I also just use the kraft grated parmasean in the can lol And I have never used the hot sauce in it whenever I have made it, and use one whole lemon, the flavor of the lemon is very faint, but you deffinitely notice it's in there. This is so dangerously yummy)
