Re: Relief or Withdrawal??? Newlywed Poll...

RELIEF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As much as I loved my wedding , I got to a point where I hated every moment of planning it. My DH and I were at each other throats right up until the day before the wedding.

For a year and a half all we atlked about was the wedding. It consumed our life. I was so afraid that after the wedding we wouldn't have anything to talk about but I was wrong. Its like we are in new relationship and we are learning all this new stuff about each other. Its awesome. I am loving being a wife and being married.

Re: Relief or Withdrawal??? Newlywed Poll...

Withdrawal. Total withdrawal. Maybe it's cause I wasn't stressed with any of the planning - I just had so much fun.

Re: Relief or Withdrawal??? Newlywed Poll...

I dont feel relief about anything except dealing with certain family members that caused stress. I LOVED planning.
However I do not feel withdrawal either. I am content.

Re: Relief or Withdrawal??? Newlywed Poll...

Relief... I really didn't like planning either and it got to the point that I was making decisions every day and I HATE making decisions.

I have to admit that when we got our album (the final part) and I paid the balance of the photographer (10 months later!) I did feel a little sad, like it was completely over. But I would never plan a big wedding again. I always tell DH that if it doesn't work out with him, the next wedding is on a beach in Hawaii and he always says, why couldn't we have done that now?!!!

Re: Relief or Withdrawal??? Newlywed Poll...

RELIEF!!! Ugh, it was just too much for me to handle, too much stress, too many details. And that was with a fairly low key, lower budget wedding. I'm not a planner.
That said, I got a small twinge when I took off the blue polish on my toes the other week. It was the last remaining 'sign' of the big day.

Re: Relief or Withdrawal??? Newlywed Poll...

BOTH! If we werent beginning the house hunting, I think it would be more withdrawal but since I have other things to occupy my time. And relief because there is no big wedding expense hanging over us, now its a bigger house, but we know we will enjoy that for years not hours

Re: Relief or Withdrawal??? Newlywed Poll...

I was somewhere in between. For the most part I enjoyed the planning and we both loved how everything turned out. But on the other hand it was nice to be able to do other things that weren't wedding related.

Re: Relief or Withdrawal??? Newlywed Poll...

For me, it was a little bit of both. I was not stressed at all during the planning, but I'm happy to not have to worry about meeting vendors, payments, and what thing didn't I think of that we have to buy.
The one thing I do miss is gown shopping! I loved trying on gowns and had a lot of fun, and I loved the gown that I chose. So while I miss being all dressed up and looking pretty, I don't miss everything that went into it.

Re: Relief or Withdrawal??? Newlywed Poll...

I definitely feel no Relief. I was sooooo happy planning my wedding, no matter what I complained about. It was fun, and I looked forward to the result of all my hard work.

I feel withdrawal b/c I want to call and nag my vendors, but I have nothing to call about. i want to go to my sisters and talk about how wonderful everything will turn out.
I want to go shopping, but only for wedding things. I want to be a Princess again and walk around in my beautiful dress while everyone tells me how great I look.

My day was soooo wonderful, I want the whole thing to happen all over again.
*sigh*

Re: Relief or Withdrawal??? Newlywed Poll...

Right after the wedding, I felt withdrawal but that went away. Now it's 100% relief!! It's nice to be the center of attention and have all these great events going on for you and DH, but ut's nicer to live happily ever after.

Re: Relief or Withdrawal??? Newlywed Poll...

I felt so much relief! However, I kind of felt that the day went so fast! I can't complain! I had great weather, and all happened in time ... but it seemed so fast! Now, I feel happily married, and with lots of plans and expectations for the oncoming years!

Post-Wedding Depression

Definitely! It was the most happiest day of my life, happy and relaxing HM and it was very hard to get back to work. I was so depressed after returning from our HM. It took me about 5 months to re-gain my efficient self from suffering Post-Wedding Depression. For this 5 months I just stare into space and constantly look at our wedding pictures over and over mentality re-living that perfect day again. I've devoted all my time, finances, energy and effort into our wedding plans for 18 months (1 1/2 years) and was very, very sad that it was all over.

I'm feeling better now and enjoying our married life without all the hectic wedding plans. However, there's the future to look forward to such as married life and spending your whole life together complete with your dear husband, personal goals, hobbies, decorating your home together, etc.

Re: Post-Wedding Depression

Definitely relief right after! I think I felt relieved right after the ceremony. Of course now I feel withdrawal b/c it seems so long ago. I would do it again without all the planning.
