funny gifts

We got a lot of low amounts b/c we had a lot of people coming from out of town. That didn't bother me a bit, and small gifts from relatives (mine, they are out of towners too).

Some funny things I got though:

I got a can of spray green frosting in my wishing well. I had no idea what to think-and the woman who gave it to me is the sweetest lady-she's my husband's aunt's mom.

After the shower she explained to me that the frosting was to go with the breakfast in bed that she bought us on www.honeymoon.com ...I still didn't get it ....

Then I finally got it a few days later...it was for us to eat off of each other!!!

Re: funny gifts

someone gave us 3 frames. two of them matched, and one of those was broken. then a third random frame with a huge ugly bride and groom on the side of it. WOW could they not dig up more frames from their closet !?!?

oh the people who got $201/$301 .. i don't know if it applies to your guests, but i know all indians give an amount that ends in a 1 .. it's good luck somehow.

Re: funny gifts

These are too funny!

We didn't get any funny gifts at all. Anyone who didn't give us money pretty much stuck to our registry. I don't know whether to be relieved or feel left out!

Re: funny gifts

One of DH's friends used the envelope from the reception hall to put the $$$ into, and then deposited it into the cake box.

Lenny's mom's coworker sent us a gourmet high quality wine opener set... We're not huge wine drinkers.

I also currently have two cake platters and never make cakes, so if anyone is interested, please let me know.

I also had a regift from a couple whose wedding was 2 or 3 years ago! It was a Lenox serving dish in a beat up discolored box! We also receive a standard handmixer and the way the couple went on about it you thought it was made from gold!

Re: Remember our shower gift thread? Well now its time to post your funny wedding gift! JUST FOR FUN!

When we went to ireland (just back) we came home with 23 picture frames (crystal and silver), 3 sets of table linens, one mohair blanket, and many many pieces of art of Dublin.

I love them all - Irish people tend to give non cash gifts
Everyone told us 'We wanted to give you something that would be easy to carry'!!

Fortunately no toasters or irons (different volatage) LOL

A friend of mine gave us a check for $136. 24. We were laughing so hard. The numbers have no significance. He's always trying to stand out!

Re: Remember our shower gift thread? Well now its time to post your funny wedding gift! JUST FOR FUN!

I know this is about funny wedding gifts, but I was too late for the funny shower gifts, so I have to add one to the funny shower gift list:

A Farberwear utility scissor, slightly rusted blade but still wrapped in plastic, taped to the back the bottom of a klennex box, and wrapped in the Sunday comics with a big bow.

It was not in my wishing well either, it was sent after my shower, by a guest that couldn't make it.

Re: Remember our shower gift thread? Well now its time to post your funny wedding gift! JUST FOR FUN!

My DH's aunt took money out of her envelope at our reception because she wasn't happy with her seating arrangements! My DH saw her do this, and she voluntarily told my MIL the next day....I felt like mailing her back the measly $60 she left us in her TY card saying thanks, but no thanks

We have a funnier story - another guest (go figure, related to this freak aunt above) gave us a lumpy card - we were dying to know what made the card so bumpy, so we ripped it open once we were in our hotel room.
Inside was a check, a COUPON for $1 off something, and some individually wrapped mints I guess she figured we had a very romantic evening planned and wanted to have our freshed breath!!! LOL So odd......

I got a $35.00 leaf blower from the VP of Operations for the company I was working for at the time. He makes a six figure salary too. He said we would need it for the house!

Casserole dish with no cover, I plan on making something nice in it and give it back to the owner. I don't make casseroles. I think us having a swap meet would be awesome. Bring your gifts one and all and let's swap. People could leave feeling like a weener Anyone want a casserole dish?
