repost from bhb! it's official... i got

my marriage certificate in the mail today! now i am able to join all of you on the newlyweds board!

and now for my question... how do you go about changing your name... where do i start ?

I went to DMV first...with Driver's License, Marriage Certificate, Social Security Card and Birth Certificate. I didn't need the BC. Then I went to Social Security. Then the bank. Those are the only things you have to do in person. The rest I either call or write to change. I saved the passport for last cuz you have to mail them the original marriage certificate.
Be warned, you do have to take a picture at DMV.

I went to DMV and then SS. Remember to bring your marriage certificate to the bank. They will ask for it.
