nothing that was unexpected... a few people i know are struggling and would not expect anymore than they gave...but one of our GM's had the balllllllls to write from 'el heffe' on the card and then give us $100...

we got a few nongifters. and a few CHEAPPPPPPP pplone COUPLE sent us stuff from our registry. what you ask? 2 pillows and a little fruit bowl. total was under $30 (and with macys coupons, prob a lot less)

we got $600 from a family of 9 ... this wouldn't be THAT terrible except that it's the parents, and 4 kids (all adults) along with three of their spouses ... the 3 married kids got their own invitations .... they didn't even give a card on their own, just tacked their names onto the parents' card.

I have one non-gifter co-worker that I see EVERYDAY who actually bragged to other co-workers that he was giving me a huge check, he spends money on very expensive trips, clothes, etc. and actually told me the other day that he's 'bought like three cards for me and lost them.' YEA RIGHT! Bul*crap.

one of our gm borrowed $300 from another gm to give to us. he never gave it to us and spent it on his vacation.we had 2 couples give us $40 each.

a card that said 'gift to follow' with a drawing in it... yea, still waiting for it to follow

My 2 aunts each gave my sister $1000. They are both families of 4. They gave me $200 each.
I guess they like her better..

a gift card to bloomies for 50 bucks. not sure what exactly can be accomplished there for 50 bucks
2 couples gave us gifts after I specifically said as I was asked what gift off our registry to get us, that we dont have a registry or need anything and to give money
the gifts were a serving plate and a photo frame

there were SO MANYeither non gifters or like $50 for a large family. im like whatever, but so many of them talked about giving us suuch a generous gift. this wasnt a freakin picnic... DH's family.
btw that was our mantra, i just remembered, throughout the invitation process. thank god that picnic is over!

LOL @ the blunt joke...someone brought us a Dorito bag...YES the family size! in a gift bag!!!!
And DH's cousin gave us a $20 bill in the card and shes getting married next year..she lives with FH in their mom's old apartment and pay 0 rent!!! for an apartment in Midtown Manhattan!

My DH's grandmother gave us 60 bucks from her, his Uncle and his Aunt. They are super poor living in Western NY.In that instance, I would have rather they gave us nothing instead of thinking that 20 bucks a head would have covered their place setting.

i think it's sweet that they tried to give anything they could .... zero dollars would also not cover their place settings....
