I thought since I paid my insurance and I've never had a claim, that they'd just give me a new ring! I mean, I've been a good customer! But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO they are treating me like I am a criminal. I literally have cried at least 3x over this and I NEVER cry.

wow! that is horrible...we dont have insurance with metlife...we have it through someone else and on our licensed contracutual agreenment it says 'how to make a claim', it does not say we need all of the documents you posted! But wow im so sorry youre dealing with this

all I can say is WOW!!! That seems so excessive - I agree with the person who said to report them to BBB. I can't imagine that you would have to go through that for an engagement ring. It shouldn't matter whether the ring was nice or not - if they are insuring it - they should be giving you the money for it.

On another note though - I remember when DH's car was stolen a few years ago that we went through A LOT of SH*T for the insurance company to pay for it. It was a collectible old irreplaceable car. They made him go through current used car sales ads to show them how much the car was worth because they wouldn't give him the money for it. It took almost a year for them to finally pay up. So I can totally understand your frustration.

First of all- I'm so sorry that you lost your ring. I know you must be devastated about that.

And secondly, I am so sorry the insurance company is treating you this way. It's TERRIBLE. I definitely also always thought that if we lost our ring we'd contact the insurance company and they'd take care of it. Putting you through this experience just isn't acceptable.

Report them to The Department of Consumer Affairs, and the BBB. Call 7 on your side etc. And just for the hell of it, call them EVERYDAY!!! Once they hear this, trust me, you'll make out. It's absolutely outlandish.
