'You eat so much. Its like you're eating every time I see you. You should be 350 pounds. How come you're not fat?'
What are your thoughts. I didn't know who to take it. Do you say thank you? Or did she just call me a pig?
ETA I am not skinny. I'm 'sturdy' as my mother would say.

i would say this person suffers from not having a filter. i hate when people say stuff like that and dont realize how hurtful they are being, even when they may not be trying to be rude.

maybe they have their own food issues, and are jealous that you don't have to struggle with them?
and i agree about them not having a filter.

yeah thats what i was thinking too. it wasn't exactly a compliment but it wasn't an insult either--it was more their issue and being probably a little jealous that they probably have food issues.

Re: Rude or no? Poll
I would take it as a compliment because if you dissect the comment she is basically saying...
wow...you seem to eat all the time (eating is good!!!) wow...you are NOT fat!
She is amazed at your ability to not be starving yourself & still look good! (that is my translation..haha)

This person decided to compliment you but at the same time did it in a rude way.

Re: Rude or no? Poll
I don't think it was an insult..but than again maybe it is she might be tired of seeing you eat all the time. It probably annoys her.
Maybe is just is a freak
I say everytime you see her offer her more food

I agree. I mean she might just be tactless but its definetly a little bit of envy speaking that you can seemingly eat whatever you like and be at a weight she considers somethign to be proud of. I would take it as a compliment from a tactless person.

ugh! i'd tell the coworker to 'mind your business, worry about yourself!
i mean it is annoying that he/she notices.. i'd be a little perturbed but they might be trying to compliment u without realizing how stupid it came out...

Re: Rude or no? Poll
I agree with a couple of the above posts that it is a backhanded compliment and they probably didn't realize that what they said might have offended you. BTW, did you have lunch with my FIL, because that is something that he would say.

Sour grapes. Tell her you're hypoglycemic and HAVE to eat frequently, otherwise your blood sugar dips and you get kooky. Or kookier, as the case may be.
Sob about how much you hate having to eat so frequently, about how BORED you are with food, and you'd give anything to eat 3 normal meals like everyone else.
Ooooo for comedic effect tell her you sometimes eat RICE CAKES because they are nice and bland when your taste buds are overstimulated.
She'll get your drift....
