SO my last QOTD as your NWOTW is a 2 parter with a poll-
Are you and your DH more 'City People' or 'Suburbanites', and why??
And based on your answer, where would you most like to live, if money wasn't an option?

Re: Saturday 3/6 QOTD
we are opposites on this one, I prefer being in the city and DH is a complete Suburbanite. I like the fast pace of the city and he likes the close-knit of the suburbs.
I would totally live in the city if we could afford it, I love the feel of being there and walking all of the place and the atmosphere

Part of me would love to live int he city and have a place out on the island for the summer. DH on the other hand would never step foot in the city if he had his way.

Re: Saturday 3/6 QOTD
we are suburbanities, 100%.
We fit the desription to a tee. I drive a VW, dh drives and Audi, we usually always stay on LI to go out. I only go to the city to get waxed, usually. We are like the 2010 version of yuppies. But don't tell DH, he doesn't like to be referred to as a yuppie.
If money was no object, I would like to live in West Islip, Massapequa Park, or Seaford on the water. We live on the water in Copiague, but the school district isn't that great, so we can't make this our permanent residence.

Re: Saturday 3/6 QOTD
DH and I are definitely CITY PEOPLE...we like action and having a big variety of things to do, people to see.
That's why our honeymoon was in 2 cities!! We went on a caribbean vacation after we got engaged and after 2 days we were going a bit stir crazy lounging around and doing nothing. We loved exploring Paris and Florence during our HM and can't wait to go back and explore more european cities!
We are going to be moving to the burbs really soon, but we will still be in the city all the time (not only for work, but recreation as well).
Where would we most like to live? We would LOVE a brownstone in Brooklyn Heights. DH's office is right on Court St and we always walk around the neighborhood and go to restaurants there. Seriously it's such an awesome neighborhood.
But alas, instead we will settle for Western Nassau County

Re: Saturday 3/6 QOTD
I would be very very happy in a small city, I love Washington DC and Boston. I LOVED living in DC. I loved the resources, the things to do, the ability to walk places. I loved being able to see any film, going to the museums for free, having the embassies and all the international food. I really miss it sometimes, especially in the fall and the spring, when we would sit at sidewalk cafes and walk around the city.
I find Manhattan overwhelming though.
But DH is from farmland area. His parents had 3 acres of land and he wants property that requires tractors to take care of.
So I think our compromise is suburbia and luckily we found a piece of property with a decent size yard, and truthfully I loved growing up out here in East Islip. So we are suburbanites. Though that is why I left the film industry, you can't really do that from suburbia.

I was born and raised in Manhattan. I was a die hard city girl until I moved in a suburban area. I am so happy here and now I can hardly bear to go to Manhattan! DH always hated the city so I guess he is definitely a suburbanite!

DH would never live in the city, he is a complete suburbanite, he needs a driveway and backyard, he says he could never raise kids in the city.
Me on the other hand love the city!! but I couldnt decide becasue I love them both I love the craziness and fast pace of the city and everythng about it but I also love being able to get away and have the quietness of the suburbs and if money wasnt an option then I would have place in the city and a place on the Island. And I would die to live in a brownstone!! OMG!

We are 110% suburbanites...we HATE going in to the city. In fact, in our 5+ years together, we've only been to the city for pleasure once...and I can hardly count going to a Billy Joel concert at MSG going in ot the city, when we never actually stepped foot outside since we came in through Penn. We'll definitely be living in hte subrubs permanently...just not sure which one that will end up being yet.

We are city people in an ideal world. We went to college in Manhattan and always say that we want to retire to Manhattan. I SO miss the city...i miss walking places, always having something to do or see...just a great place to live!

Re: Saturday 3/6 QOTD
I lived in Ridgewood, Queens until I was 11....I thought I would never be able to fall asleep without the soothing sounds of car alarms, fire trucks, ambulances, people talking reallly loud, police sirens, & music blasting neighbors. But after being a suburbanite for 13 years, I'm sooo used to it! I could not picture myself living in the city ever again. In fact, DH would love to move even further out once we get a house - I mean QUOGUE? Who lives in Quogue??
Dont get me wrong - I <3 the city. But it's nice for day trips. We're very fortunate to have NYC soo close to us. There are plenty of people who will never get to see it!

We're more city people! I work in the city so I'm there every day. If we could afford an amazing apartment in the city we would move there in a heartbeat

Re: Saturday 3/6 QOTD
It's funny, we were both born in raised in Brooklyn and Queens but now we live in the suburbs and LOVE it. We love not having to look for parking at our own house, or remember alternate side of the street parking, among other things. While there are times I miss the convenience of city life there's no doubt we will stay on Long Island and raise our family here.

Re: Saturday 3/6 QOTD
DH (when he's not on furlough) works in the city, so that is the LAST place he would want to be. We both like 'the island' for similar reasons. The most important is the yards. We have three large dogs and there is no way we would be able to handle their schedules in the city. OK, maybe we could, but we are choosing not to. He likes the naps he gets to and from work on the train. He says it's the best sleep. I'm petrified of the city, so it works out just fine.

Re: Saturday 3/6 QOTD
DH and I thought we were suburbinites and the first thing we did, before we got engaged, is that we bought our house. We love our house to pieces but its just not us since we are die hard city people.
We are back and forth between the house and our condo in brooklyn and I have to say that I love the condo more. It's nice to get together with friends and do a night out and not worrying about driving home or an extremely long commute.
Although my doggie begs to differ, she loves her backyard instead of the city streets.
