Re: Share your Honeymoon Story

hmm, so many moments...

We totally damaged our rental car - put a hole in the exhaust by driving over a rock (hard NOT to drive over rocks on the crazy roads of Costa Rica). Almost got run down by cows while we were stopped to assess the damage.

We lived the Expedia commercial (with the mosquito netting!) - we were greeted at that place by the owner who was stung by a scorpion that morning (on her eye) and were lucky enough to be there for the once in 10 years that these crazy giant beetles go nuts (we were bombarded with them at dinner one night - AL started collecting them under any available glass, and had dozens!)

AL almost made me a widow when his horse took off at a neck breaking speed down the beach and disappeared into the woods (and it was his first time on a horse). The guide took off after him, and I was stuck trying to control my horse that wanted to follow them. I was wreak for 30 minutes waiting for them to return, all the while trying to keep the local kids hands away from my horses mouth (she was fiesty and I was afraid she'd bite them) - praying I still had a husband.

edited to say: AL thought it was the ride of his life! He didn't want any slow-ass boring walk.

I think these stories only add to the adventure that was our honeymoon. It was an awesome trip!

Re: Share your Honeymoon Story

These stories are SO FUNNY- I'm LMAO over here...

DH and I went on a fishing trip when we were in Zihuatanejo, Mexico- the town is actually known for their sport fishing. We didn't go deep see fishing- we just trolled around for tuna and mackrel.

It was just DH and I in a 29 Ft... Panga (and the boat captain)... The Boat Captain (Isidro) was a young guy- maybe mid-20s... We had some beers on the boat (hey- it was 7.30 am but so what) and starting drinking & fishing...

We asked Isidro if he wanted a beer- told us 'i don't drink'... Also tells us all about his kids, his wife, etc... After about 4 hours of fishing we catch 7 fish. It's now time for the snorkel part of the trip- we drop anchor and meet up with another boat from the same charter group.. we're hanging out- the boat captain is making a cerviche with the fish we caught and DH and I are snorkeling around the area.

Well Isidro announces we need more beer- takes 200 pesos (20 bucks) and takes the boat back to the Marina.. comes back in 20 minutes with 3 40s of beer...and he drinks one!!!

So we are done snorkling- sitting in the boat and eating the cerviche. Isidro drinks the whole 40.. it's now time to go to Las Gatas Beach which you can only get to via boat. There's a bunch of restaurants on the beach where they take your fish- cook it up- and give you rice, salsa, etc...

Isidro proceeds to drink Amaretto & OJ.. (um GROSS) he had about 7 of them and got bombed. He got SO drunk that he couldn't take us back to the hotel (the other boat captain had to take us)..! So much for not drinking...

The other boat captain told us his knickname was alcholito!!!!

Re: Share your Honeymoon Story

Ours is kind of scary at the time....

We were both pretty drunk, it had been rainy all day so we met another couple and we all got hammered. We thought going to get ready for dinner would be a good idea. So Steve took a shower first, now at home we have a real deep tub and the tub at Sandal's was not. So Steve lost his balance and fell out of the tub and hit his head on the toilet bowl Now I was drunk too and got so scared!!! Later on everytime he would start to pas out I would make him wake up. I was also putting ice on it. The next day we went to the nurse and she said we could see the Dr. if we wanted but it would cost $300.00 just to be seen so Steve was like no way!!! He is alright but does still have a mark behind his ear. Here is a pic

Re: Share your Honeymoon Story

Roland and I went on a cruise for our honeymoon. At dinner each night we sat at the head of our table and this older couple who was celebrating their 50th anniversary sat at the other end. Well the wife was very chatty but her husband never spoke to anyone...until one night when he found out Roland was a boat captain. After that every night he would come to dinner with a new little fact or piece of trivia that he had learned about the boat and he'd shout across the table...'Hey Roowland, do you know that when they go through the Panama Canal they have to pay in cash.' We also found out how much the captain of our cruise ship made, how many lbs of ice were on the ship, all kinds of stuff. It was so cute and so every once and awhile I'll call out to Roland sometimes...'Hey Roowland..'
