Share your Honeymoon Story

Come on Ladies, share your stories!
Was it something funny? Did you get sick?
Did your luggage get lost? Have bad stomach virus?

Anything good to share?

For me, I wound up in the ER with chest pains in Aruba thinking I was having a heart attack, but i later found out, after coming home early, (yes the symptons are the same, my dad had a HA so I know), I found out I have acid reflux.

Anyway I cut my HM short by 4 days but made up for it by going to Disney for a 3 day weekend But how SCARY the pains were
, I was so glad to come home & talk to a US doctor!!

Re: Share your Honeymoon Story

no horror stories, but...
The most memorable thing about our honeymoon (Besides the horseback riding on the beach!)
was that we met the most amazing 'older' couple. They live in Arizona and we still keep in touch today, almost 3 years later.
We didnt know the cruiseline was geared to the 'older crowd', but it winded up being our favorite cruise, and we met 2 of the most wonderful people in the world. The most outgoing, loving, hilarious & optimistic couple in the world!

We PRAY to be JUST LIKE THEM when we're over 70!

Re: Share your Honeymoon Story

We met a couple who was honeymooning in Aruba as well (they got married the day before us but in CT) and talk about finding a couple that was just like us. We had a GREAT time with them, we went places together, went on the Kukuu booze bus with them, and they also bought a timeshare but they have a different week than us. In fact, they are there right now and I sent them flowers to their room and we talked the other night and made us soooo jealous they were there and we weren't yet. They kept saying Aruba isn't the same with out you guys!!

Re: Share your Honeymoon Story

In Barcelona...we took a bike tour...its very relaxed and you take old time Schwinns...well one of the last stops is the beach to relax and a few drinks...as we are on our way back...DH keeps doing wheelies (keep in mind this tour attracts college aged backpackers...so we are the oldest ones)...well I guess DH was a little tipsy b/c he did a wheelie with out realizing that there was a wheel cover on the back and fell over...

Re: Share your Honeymoon Story

Well lets see -- We went ot Hawaii for 2 weeks -- Had a wonderful time -- the whole time we were there the new was warning about a mosquito borne illness called ' Denghi Fever' ( much like West nile) Stores were sold out of bug spray -- they told you to stay away from the road to hana -- that is where all of the mosquitos are being found. So like true tourists -- we decide to hike in the woods , on the road to hana to a waterfall. We got bit quite a few times... The whole way home I felt sooooooo sick -- I called my Dr and told her I needed to come in that I had ' Denghi Fever' . I went in got tested-- and found out I WAS PREGNANT! ha ha
What a nice surprise! ( my symptoms were pregnancy) not Denghi fever!

Re: Share your Honeymoon Story

We were honeymooning in Aruba and decided to go parasailing. We got on the boat, cruised out into the waters, and DH goes first.

DH gets to be about 500 feet in the air and we start moving along. I start to smell something interesting and I look at the driver of the boat. He is smoking a big fat joint Nothing like being suspended 500 feet over water while the driver of your boat gets high.

Re: Share your Honeymoon Story

My story is not a funny one, more of a romantic one.

We met this girl stephanie on the way to San diego, she was going to see her husband who was shipped off to iraq the day after they got married and she hadnt seen him in over 6months! Well it was a long plane ride so we chatted the whole way, and when we got to the airport she was going down the escalator and he was there all dressed in his Army dresses and had the prettiest white flowers ever and he was standing at the bottom of the escalator.. she got down and they just hugged forever... even when they were getting her baggage they didnt take their eyes off each other.. It seriously brought tears to my eyes...

Re: Share your Honeymoon Story

Suzanne OMG!! That sounds like my story on the way to Disney ('2nd HM'):

I posted this on NWR after Disney:

On the way there, in JFK, we met & sat next to a Military (Army) guy He traveled from Iraq, to Kuwait to Amsterdam, to NY, then to Fla! This was his 3rd day traveling due to delays and all. He almost missed our flight & was frantic because he wanted to call his wife to tell her he'd be home in a few hrs & to pick him up and he just made our plane, got stuck in customs. He hadn't seen her in 6 mos. So on the plane, we offered him our cell phone & he spoke to her, then when we landed, their embrace was so long & beautiful, I cried, even John had tears in his eyes (he says no but he did!)

Re: Share your Honeymoon Story

OMG Suzanne...that is something I would have gotten choked up about!!!

coselige...a similar thing happened to us...Dh and I went tandem and our friends were on the boat with us...when we got down they said that our line had gotten stuck and the 2 pot head drivers had no idea what to do...I knew when we were up there that we were up for too long...

Re: Share your Honeymoon Story

Our HM was an amazing 2 week trip through Spain - both the big cities (Madrid and Seville), the country side (Grenada) and the resort area (Marbella). We did a lot of sightseeing, eating and relaxing. Nothing to exciting to write about, but it was fun to experience a different culture (it was my first time out of the country).

I think the funniest (i.e., most embarrassing) thing was my hubby and the rental car. Now I will remind you that hubby owns a car and truck dealership and has driven every kind of car imaginable. first we were amazed they don't have keys (they have key cards and a start button that you push). So the rental company delivers the car to our hotel, and we get in it and ready to cruise out to Grenada. However, my hubby can't get in to go in reverse. he tried and tried and he can't move it unless we go in reverse first. I can't drive a stick so I have no clue. He had to go into the hotel and ask the concierge how to drive the car. It was more embarrassing than anything. turns out you have to pull up on the shifter. I'll never let him live that one down.

Jen, I got sick too. We went to Disney World and the change in temperature made me get a cold. But other than that we had a good time.

Re: Share your Honeymoon Story

The first week of our HM was on a cruise to the Western Carribbean and it was GREAT! We even met up with Mishy626 and her DH (on their HM as well) for drinks and a show one night! The whole cruise was perfect!

The second week we had plans to stay in Miami and go to visit DH's parents in Ft. Lauderdale a few times, since his father wasn't able to come to NY for the wedding. When we got to Miami, we checked in and called my in-laws. Well, while his mom was in NY for the wedding and his dad was in the nursing home, there was a flood in their apartment and their floors and most of their furniture was ruined!!! So we left Miami and went right to Ft. Lauderdale and spent the whole second week of our HM cleaning out their apartment! Over 40 bags of garbage later....! She still says I am the best Daughter-In-Law - I think I earned it LOL!

Re: Share your Honeymoon Story

Well b/c we got married 9/15/01, four days after 9/11 we canceled our honeymoon plans to the Canary Islands off the coast of Spain.

So we had to decide something to do local. We decided to go to Newport. While we were there we kept telling everyone this was our honeymoon that we had to change our plans, etc. Everywhere we went they would say 'We just met another couple on their honeymoon too and they came to Newport as a change of plans too'

Then we went to one of the vineyards in the area and met another couple on their honeymoon that got married the same day as us in CT. They looked so tired. They had tried to go on their honeymoon to St. Lucia - they got to TX where they were to connect to San Juan and then St. Lucia. Well the flight crew didn't show up for their flight so they were stuck in TX. Then they found out that their luggage actually had already gone to San Juan. They couldn't get it back b/c it was stuck in customs in San Juan b/c it was suspicious that there was luggage and no passengers to go with it. So they had to stay in TX until they could get a flight back home. They had no clothes, nothing! So they finally got back to CT and just did a day trip to Newport. I felt so bad for them.

It made me feel like we were so lucky to be able to just go to Newport even though our tropical honeymoon was canceled.

Oh and we were packed for a tropical honeymoon, not Newport, RI in September. Brrrr -- we both had to buy jackets to keep warm.
