Show me your home...

Original post by Sonicstef

Thought this might be a fun post. Show me your home...whether that be the 5 bedroom ranch on 10 acres or the front door to your studio apartment!

Shutterfly is not cooperating but I will add photos as soon as I can!

PS: Looking for front door ideas so if you have a photo of your door, I would love to see that :D

I'd never leave the window!

Re: Show me your home...

Last pic...this is when we first had the windows installed (the very first thing we did after tearing all the walls down...some 3 years ago)

I have to take more recent pictures of the outside, I'm just waiting to get the landscaping done (the yard looks like a big mish-mash, since it was just leveled with topsoil!)

Re: Show me your home...

Kathy...I love your home!
From the photos you posted in the past...I thought you had a more contemporary home.
You're not going to get rid of the overhang over the door are you!? You're only going to replace the door itself right?
And how big are those arched windows? We made need to replace a few of ours.

And I'm loving the hydrangeas in your backyard!!!

Re: Show me your home...

I guess I can see how it looks contemporary, with all the open space, and all the walls knocked down. I like the open spaces of contemporary homes, but I just love the outside look of Victorian homes. I don't like the outside of contemporary homes, just not me.

I'm hoping, once we blow the front of the house out and get the foyer I've been dying for, we can put on a nice front porch and all the Victorian details.

The windows are quite big, they're by Anderson...I'm not sure of the dimensions, but I'll ask my FI when he gets home (he was in charge of ordering them). The ones in our bedroom are just big square ones, but the one's in the dining room, sun room, and living room all have that arch on the top... I'll find out the specifications for you and the prices.

Re: Show me your home...

I thought about getting rid of the overhang, but our contracter keeps giving me sh*t about that because he said it's from 1933 and was designed with the same dental moldings throughout the house (even though we ripped a lot of them down and put up new ones).

As it stands, my contracter and FI win re: the overhang, it stays!

Re: Show me your home...

BTW, Jenny your home is also beautiful! I love the amount of property you have.

When we first looked at our house, the one thing that instantly hit me was how far back the house was on the property, not right on the road.

You also have a huge backyard...are you on 2 acres?

what beautiful homes! Kathy - your views are absolutely breathtaking I actually prefer the North Shore for that reason - the calm water, with larger peninsulas and cliffs - beautiful!
