Show me your home...

Original post by Sonicstef

Thought this might be a fun post. Show me your home...whether that be the 5 bedroom ranch on 10 acres or the front door to your studio apartment!

Shutterfly is not cooperating but I will add photos as soon as I can!

PS: Looking for front door ideas so if you have a photo of your door, I would love to see that :D

Re: Show me your home...

Are you doing anything to celebrate FFIL's b-day at the wedding??

I called DH over to look...and now I am more determined to find a fixer-upper...

just hope that it is possible!!!

Re: Show me your home...

It's totally possible. We looked at MANY homes! FI and I didn't give a SH*T what the home looked like, as long as it was waterfront. Seriously, we even looked at tiny bungalows...because they can always be added on...but everything before this house wasn't what we thought of as waterfront...either the view was of a harbor, or it was across the street from a marina/harbor, or you had to look through your neighbor's window to see the harbor...

But just keep looking...and look at everything you can, even if you think the place is garbage....as long as you have an imagination, anything is possible.

My FI's family told us NOT to buy the house, that it was a waste of money...and they told us to wait because the market was going to come down! They also said you couldn't pay them enough to live in our home. Well, now it's killing them!

Is there are particular area you're interested in? Let me know, because I'm a real estate junky, and am always looking...if I see anything, I'll let you know!

Here's another pic I found of our winter visitor, a ring-neck pheasant who visits us every winter and hangs out in our yard every day! He takes off at the end of winter, but it's really cool!
(Can you tell I'm totally bored now!)

Re: Show me your home...

As for FFIL's birthday, do you have any suggestions? I was thinking of a toast to him and a surprise B-Day cake with sparklers for him!

Re: Show me your home...

I found a pic of my kitchen somewhat cleaner than it is now...please don't mind the hooker-typer chick (that was me , on my way to some party...this is a horrendous pic of my, I look like I'm 50 lbs. heavier than my actual weight..aughhh)...and please don't mind the wee-wee pad, we just got our puppies and were in the process of training them!

And the floors were not refinished in this pic.

Re: Show me your home...

We are actually in CA right now...so I'm not sure if you know about RE here...but the problem is that RE agents keep telling us to go inland (away from the ocean) or to look into condos...

I can sympathize with the wee-wee pads... ours just got off a few months ago...

post more pictures if you get a chance!! I love them!!! I'd be so proud of that house if I were you!!

as for FFIL...a cake and toast sounds nice!! maybe a mention in the program...I think President Taft was also boarn that day...lol

Re: Show me your home...

My FI lived in Dana Point, CA for a while. He was looking to buy a house on one of the cliffs, but he said he decided against it because all the homes in that area looked like they were about to be washed away! He said it was quite scary.

Where in CA are you?

Re: Show me your home...

San Diego...we would love a house on one of the cliffs overlooking the beach...or on the beach...but I don't know if we can find something as great as you did...one RE agent told us that houses in our area (we are renting in) start at $600K

Re: Show me your home...

FI lived there back in 94, and then the houses were around 300...so that RE is probably right. But, you never know!

Kevin is always trying to get me to cook in similar outfits. Or at least bring him beer in one.

50lbs heavier! LOL! If you were any thinner, you'd blow away when your dog(s) farted. (BTW, that's a compliment.)

Re: Show me your home...

Kathi,
I FMd you.

Your house is absolutely stunning. You guys did a fabulous job on all the inside work, and like Jenny5150, I'm sick over how much real estate (WATERFRONT NO LESS!!) was going for in 2000.
I won't even show my husband, or he's likely to be sick. LOL.
Lucky, lucky you and your hubby. Looks like it was totally worth what you paid and even whatever $$ you had to sink into renovating- TOTALLY worth it. It's a dream home. Definately worthy of HGTV before and after

Re: Show me your home...

Here's a pic of ours (in NC). We bought it three years ago but I think this picture is from even before then-- it's from the Register of Deeds web site.
Since this pic the trees have grown up a lot. And we just painted it to more of a brighter yellow with a brighter green shutters/door. It was more a cream color with a hunter green accent.

Re: Show me your home...

Kathy your 'before's' were taking me back to the good old days of dangling wires and exposed 2x4's. Ahh, the smell of treated lumber and fiberglass insulation. Isn't it wonderful?
