Show me your home...

Original post by Sonicstef

Thought this might be a fun post. Show me your home...whether that be the 5 bedroom ranch on 10 acres or the front door to your studio apartment!

Shutterfly is not cooperating but I will add photos as soon as I can!

PS: Looking for front door ideas so if you have a photo of your door, I would love to see that :D

Oh and one more request.

Can I please see your bathroom so I can pass out?

It must feel amazing to see these befores then the afters and how much work you've done. The biggest thing we did is the roof, and while I'm glad I no longer have a leaky roof, we don't exactly stare at the new roof in awe! Kind of a 'had to be done' type thing, not a let's make this real purty type thing!

Here's more pics of the stairs to the beach.

I'm going through a box of pics as I write, so that's why the sudden bombardment of picx.

Call me crazy, but I actually liked the way the hallway looked!
(But I can understand wanting to remodel and open the house up.)

I know what you mean about leaky roofs!

We kept all the moldings on the side of the staircase, but the way it was before,,,it was WAY TOO Narrow, trust me...it looks nice in the pic, but in person, 2 people couldn't pass each other in that hallway.

The bathrooms are quite dirty, so I'll have to take those pics when I get to clean them....I'll take one of the guest bath downstairs right now (it's tiny, but it's just as you come in the door and meant to be a washing up area). Be right back.

Re: Show me your home...

This is the guest bathroom downstairs in the hallway...I can only post this one because it was really easy to clean up.

Originally the bathroom walls and floor were black with white splattered paint dots all over (the former owners were artists, I guess that was considered the psychodellic bathroom)

Re: Show me your home...

This is the orignial ad for our home. We bought the house in the beginning of 2000, before the market got really crazy.

It was on the market for only 1 week when we bought it.

I thought waterfront would've meant next to a sump....only because the ad didn't have a picture of the view. So, this was all we had to go by. We weren't even going to go look at it because the picture was so horrible! I just xed out some personal stuff written on there.

I love the language in the ad 'classic and classy....' you wonder what these RE agents are thinking sometimes

Re: Show me your home...

The ad should've said: 'Dumpy and Dirty, but lots of potential...price is worth the property, the house is just a bonus that can be knocked down!'

Re: Show me your home...

was the house abandoned or something? I feel a LITTLE better seeing your before pics

Those fixer uppers are sometimes the nicest in the end - you save the character and original appeal of the house & history, while updating it with the newest most modern applicances

In your case, it sure looks well worth it!!! The value must have at least doubled too

Re: Show me your home...

FI wants to kill me because I just started looking at real estate again, I love Head of The Harbor and keep telling him we could sell this house and make a huge profit (it was appraised for over triple what we paid for it), and move to Head of the Harbor.

He says, 'HECK NO!', he also doesn't like the idea that the waterfront homes there are only harbor front and not on the LI Sound like ours. Looks like we're staying.

But I understand how you feel Jenny re: fixing up and moving.

The house wasn't abandoned...some of these pics were taken after we ripped the sheetrock down, that's why it appears abandoned.

You'd wanna move? Me never!!!!

The view alone is incredible. It must be so nice to see rain, snow, lightning or even just the water on a beautiful sunny day!

Kathy, your home is breathtaking, When I looked at the ad you posted of the house, I was looking for the extra comma before the 2, !!
Im sure with all the work and projects that were put in, there WILL Be an extra comma if you were to sell it !

Gorgeous !!

Everyone's homes are so beautiful and cozy!!!

Re: Show me your home...

The price you guys paid makes me want to puke!!! Uggh!!

I'm always looking at real estate, but we've got time yet. I'd like to go to Lloyd Neck/Harbor or Huntington Bay, but FH loves our neighborhood & location. (I like it too, but I want more property. ) We haven't even done that much on the house and already I'm worn out.
