silly ?: At your shower, did your bridesmaids help you open your gifts?

Original post by suven

One of my bridesmaids called me a few days ago to tell me that she was just at a bridal shower (she's a bridesmaid in that wedding) and that she didn't have to help open the gifts because the restaurant staff did it for the bride.

I just thought she was trying to 'say' something...Of course, in my head, I was thinking, 'WOW, the only help I got from my bridesmaids was opening the gifts at my shower and 2 of you helped assemble my programs. Sorry I was so demanding...'

I just said, 'oh, wow. At every shower I went to, the bridesmaids opened the gifts. Even when I was my cousin's BM 10 years ago, we opened the gifts...and also at her baby shower last year.'

And, then we changed the subject. But, I thought that the bridesmaids help open the gifts, don't they?

All of my girls helped me open my gifts at my shower. One girl wrote down who gave what....

At every shower I have attended, the bridesmaids helped the bride open the gifts. Even at baby showers, the mother-to-be's friends help her open the gifts.

I have never seen the restaurant staff help.

Same here!

Same here! I was grateful for the help - it saves a lot of time!

My bridesmaids all helped me. I had 10 of them. One person made a list of who gave what, one person made a hat with all the ribbons and bows. They all made an assembly line and helped me out. I would never have been able to get through all of the gifts by myself. It was a great help and the guest were not bored.
