silly ?: At your shower, did your bridesmaids help you open your gifts?

One of my bridesmaids called me a few days ago to tell me that she was just at a bridal shower (she's a bridesmaid in that wedding) and that she didn't have to help open the gifts because the restaurant staff did it for the bride.

I just thought she was trying to 'say' something...Of course, in my head, I was thinking, 'WOW, the only help I got from my bridesmaids was opening the gifts at my shower and 2 of you helped assemble my programs. Sorry I was so demanding...'

I just said, 'oh, wow. At every shower I went to, the bridesmaids opened the gifts. Even when I was my cousin's BM 10 years ago, we opened the gifts...and also at her baby shower last year.'

And, then we changed the subject. But, I thought that the bridesmaids help open the gifts, don't they?

All of my girls helped me open my gifts at my shower. One girl wrote down who gave what....

At every shower I have attended, the bridesmaids helped the bride open the gifts. Even at baby showers, the mother-to-be's friends help her open the gifts.

I have never seen the restaurant staff help.

Yes, well two of them did. There were only three of them there because the rest lived in Florida, but two did. The third was DH's sister and she is just totally clueless. My mom actually went up to her at the shower and asked her if she would like to go help the other girls with helping me, it was kind of a hint to get her butt up there, and she said no thanks to my mom!! I just laughed when my mom told me because I know how totally clueless DH's sister is!!

It did and it was FUN! I liked it that way. But seriously IVE never been to any kind of a shower where anyone helped the person open gifts. I didn't know people where suppose to help. My SIL sat next to me and helped take the wrapping paper off my lap like if I lifted up the gift or something and my aunt wrote stuff down but that was it.

Yeah, I mean, my bridesmaids handed me gifts to open, and one took the paper, one took the bow (for the hat), and one wrote down what it was and who from, but *I* ripped that paper, d@mmit!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had 3 BM's, one unwrapped, handed the box to me, I opened, sometimes with the help of another, then she announced what it was and who it was from(she has a big mouth and I do not ) FSIL made the bo-k and my SIL who wasn't a BM wrote down,

It was crazy with all that help, I couldn't imagine doing it alone

My daughter (BM) - wrote everything down

SIL - repacked & put cards in boxes

They handed me the gift, I opened it, handed the wrapping paper to one of the girls, then showed everyone the gift, my MOH took the gift from me, reassembled it, and my BM wrote down what it was and who it was from. That's about it.

No one opened gifts but me...

As said above, I had BMs handing me gifts and keeping track of who gave what, even repacking them after I opened them, but NO ONE took off wrapping paper but ME

I wouldn't allow anyone near that wrapping paper but me!!!
My MOH handed me the gifts, I ripped the paper, a BM threw the paper out, another BM wrote down the gift, and the other BM helped my cousin make my hat.

I was once at a shower for an ex-boyfriend's fiance (I was friends with both of them and actually introduced them so I was fine there....)but none of her bridesmaids were there because the shower was in NY thrown by his mother, and she lived in MA, so it was a second shower....but I was the only one there to help her out, which was a little akward. I had to pass the gifts around to everyone and help bring the packages over.....I was a guest, but I had to work....it wasn't fun

my brother handed me the gifts and then gave the cards to the bridesmaids to right down and put aside i thought it was very cool

No one unwrapped gifts besides me. One of my BMs worked on moving the gifts close to me, one handed them to me, one wrote down the gifts, one got rid of gift wrap, one worked on my ribbon hat, and one wrote the funny things I said

Nobody heled me open presents, my BP carried them over to me and recorded who got me what but nobody else opend them. I was a bridesmaidat one wedding and she had 150 people at the shower so of course we helped unwrapped presents at that shower becasue we were short on time. But I haven't done it at any other shower.
For my brdial shower in NJ that my MIL had for me she asked for everybody to come with there presents unwrapped which took all the fun out of teh shower,
