Re: So fess up...
As of right now we plan to start trying at the end of next summer (2010). We might have to wait a little longer if we want a condo first.

my plan remains...3-4 years. I have to enjoy my marriage, travel and get where I need to be (finishing law school, starting my career, house, new car, etc...lol). Do I get the baby itch, sure, but that day will come, and I plan on enjoying it to the fullest.

Take your time! I would never ever change anything BUT... those little buggers change EVERYTHING?
- Want to go out to dinner? Great - will it be during nap time? - Wanna go away for a girl's weekend? SURE! As long as you have enough breast milk in the freezer - wanna go out to dinner? Sounds awesome, but the baby screams whenever you leave the room - Hey - wanna go for sushi, wine, drinks, cheese, a smoke, skiiing, surfing, boogey boarding... etc? Yeah, can't do that while pregnant.
get my drift....?

Re: So fess up...
I'm totally itchy and so is DH. We want to wait at least until Jan. to start trying mostly because we still have my apt. and I just started working again and I'm a consultant so it's nothing 100% stable.
Right now though after my BC refills are up during the summer I'm coming off and we'll just see what happens. We figure it takes time to concieve. Even though our situation may not be ideal our child will not want for anything and we're getting older so rather have the child sooner rather than later (I'm 33,DH 34)

I feel like the more I wait the less I want children
I feel the exact same way Lea. I feel like I'm being selfish. All I think about are places to travel instead of children

Same here! I have so much I wanna get out of my system and I dont know when I will ever feel like Im done living life. Very selfish but responsible I think because I wouldnt want to bring a child into this world until I felt like I could give it 100 percent without being resentful ya know?

Re: So fess up...
I wanted to start trying this year but, DH jot laid off. So now is not the time. I'm a bit concerned since I'm turning 35 (ouch) this year.

I have to get used to DH first, before I can think about having 'another' child.

Thank you for your honesty. I feel the exact same way. We are toying with the idea of keeping it 'just us' It seems so nice. I can't think of any reasons to rush it. I don't know - I don't really like kids other than my nieces and nephews and I am just enjoying my 'ME' time when DH is out and our 'US' time when he is home.
it is not like we have some crazy club hopping lifestyle - but we see our friends every weekend, sometimes during the week too . . .
I swear sometimes I feel like we are going to have kids just not to become that 'wierd couple' with like 40 dogs LOL
so stressful.

then wait. yeah people get the itch when they first get married. But you owe it to yourself, your DH and even your baby to wait. You might need to save some cash, buy a house, a bigger house, have a few yrs alone with DH or whatever the reason, its usually a good one. Stick to your guns. Its better to wait a little longer. Babies are cute. But remember, every 2 hr feedings, tons of doctor visits, extra bills, etc... just think on that if you feel yourself slipping.

Re: So fess up...
my original plan was to wait until we had a house, and live there and enjoy it for a year, then start trying. instead we started trying last august. DH will be 40 next march, and he really wanted to be a daddy before 40, so we started even before we sold our condo.
now i'm 4 months pregnant, we're renovating our house, and hoping to get most of it done by the time the baby comes in Sept. i still don't think it has hit us just how much our lives will change come sept, but we cannot wait.
if we were 5 years younger, we definitely would have waited a couple a years.

Re: So fess up...
we've both been itching more than we ever thought we would its kind of funny how things can change....
i used to say i want to go on a million vacations and be selfish and do this and do that but honestly for some reason those things arent my top priorities anymore - i am starting to be more okay with the idea of not having 'freedom' - it used to scare the crap out of me and make me almost anti-kids but now i am looking at things differently - now its starting to be a family that is more important to me and DH - and going to Tahiti, althought it would be nice, is just not as important as it used to be - KWIM?
we arent going to try just yet though b/c #1 i don't want to do anything impulsive - b/c in 6 months i might change my mind again so i want to be *sure* that im *sure* #2 we don't have a house just yet - hopefully any day now we find out if we got the house but until we are moved in and settled we really have to wait - it would be totally irresponsible on our part if we started trying before that #3 the economy is scary and i want to be sure that i want to bring a baby into the world at this moment in time - i want to be sure we are financially secure first and hopefully things start to turn around in this country....
our 'plan' is to start trying next spring/summer. i'd like to actually give birth when i am 26 - so that would mean a baby born anytime after feb 2011 would be cool hehehehe....but i dont know - we kind of want to try and plan it out so we have a better idea of what months i will be super pregnant in and also what month the baby will be born in - but it doesnt always work that way - it might take some time to get pregnant which would mess up that plan - so who knows - but we think next year....

that is part of what i just said - i don't want to do anything impulsive so better to wait and see if my feelings stick
