So, is he honest about your cooking?

So, is he honest about your cooking?

I never cooked really before we got married. I'd make simple stuff like pasta and some mexican foods. But I'd say that so far I havent cooked one bad meal. He agrees but who knows? He might be too scared to say otherwise lol

So do your hubbys keep it real?

i think so - just because he's a TERRIBLE liar....and i don't get compliments EVERY night - i'll ask if something is cooked okay and he'll say yes - and then, it was good...but if something is REALLY good - he'll say that wasn't bad (his version of delicious) - weiner....

Not to toot my own horn (DH does that for me ) but i think i'm a pretty good cook. If i make something that DH really doesn't like or its a 'miss' vs. a hit...he'll be honest and say so. but it won't be like 'this SUUUCKED!' it will be more like 'i'd be okay if you didn't make this again, i'm not a fan'

Definitely. He knows that it is about his own taste and NOT my cooking ( so far )

For example he HATES meatloaf but of course i had to try it ONCE and he GAGGED on it so of course i knew that he hated it. . .but he hates all meatloaf!

He definitely tells me if the food suucks or if its good. I usually wait until after he takes a few bites and then say..'and.... ???'

Actually I'm the one who usually critiques my cooking! He always says it's good (and I know it's never BAD) but sometimes I'll be like ehhh this is just okay. And he just rolls his eyes at me and says I always find something wrong with it! I guess I sometimes get a little intimidated cooking for him b/c he was used to fabulous Italian cooking his entire life! His mom is an awesome cook. I'm trying!!

i know i cook pretty good but being that dh will eat just about anything and think it's delicious its sometimes hard to know if a certain receipe is a winner or not

Yea he's honest about my cooking. I'm WAY harder on myself then he is and in fact he will request my food. All he wants when i'm sick is my lasagna

Yes he's honest. I'd say 99% of the time he loves what I make. His family will tell me that he brags to them about some of the dinners I make, so I know he's telling the truth. And b/c he's so enthusiastic about most meals, I can definitely tell when he isn't feeling something.
The dialogue usually goes...
me: So, do you like it?
him: Yea. . . do you?
me: that means you don't like it.
him: Well, I'm sure you followed the recipe, so it's not you..it's just not my favorite, that's all.

Sweet that he tries to pin it on the recipe, not my cooking.

yep - i get nervous with steak - like, did i overcook it??? and then i get the whole, 'baby, if it wasn't good, i wouldn't eat it' thing...

i tease him all the time that 'not bad' is his way of saying that was the best thing ever. I'm trying to slowly teach him new words :)

I am lucky that DH that isn't a picky eater, he will eat almost anything that I cook. If he likes it he will let me know and if he isn't a fan he will let me know that what I have made isn't a favorite.

totally!! my MIL is puerto rican and an awesome cook. what's funny is i like spanish food more than DH, and i'll devour her food. she makes kickass rice and beans; i haven't even attempted to make them on my own.

DH never says anything but always likes to 'add' salt to all my dishes, he likes things very salty whereas I don't.

He lets me know if he likes it or not which I am happy about b/c then I can make it better next time
