I tried my best to be discrete about this today, but some people felt the need to verbalize their reactions to things I have told them. That is just fine - they needed to express themselves and their feelings. But I now feel the need to clarify a few things.
Everyone got a little bent out of shape today because I made a personal decision to leave this community. No one hurt my feelings - I am not that thin-skinned! There was nothing specifc that happened and it isn't just one instance, either. This is a personal decision I am making and it has been a long time coming. Recently, I took a break from LIW for several days. I felt alot better about a lot of things. I hadn't realized how toxic this 'addiction' had become in my life. It causes stress and anxiety at times and for no good reason!
Yes, I am fed up with being accused of causing drama - it seems like that's everyone's favorite new catch phrase around here. Yes, I get tired of trying to intelligently explain my point of view to people who are, in many ways, beyond reason or just far too narrow minded to see another intelligent point of view. JMO.
You all know that I am not a shy person and I'm not a shrinking violet either. I am always up for a good joke and a good debate - and I can hold my own with the best of them. But, I am just done with some of the repetitive, downward spiral negativity.
I hate to say this, but this is just not as fun anymore and I have found that you really can only talk weddings and honeymoons for so long. And my wedding was so long ago now that my advice about vendors is outdated! LOL!
Personally, I need to spend a lot less time on the computer and more time with my son and my hubby. We are moving to our first home soon and this will be a very exciting, but very busy time. I had already decided months ago that my days here were numbered. Now, I prefer to take the friendships that I've made here and try to continue them in the real world - not on a chat board. Why should that be criticized? I don't think it should.
I know I'll miss the support of the other Moms on the Parenting board - I truly enjoyed that portion of this community and I am glad I was instrumental in making it a success. But, I plan on getting together with many of the other Moms soon, and that's better than just chatting on an Internet board.
I don't know what else there is to say. I have had great days here and sad days here. I know LIWeddings is not going to cease existing without my contributions. There's plenty of bridezillas around to give this site long life! But, I am sure there will also come a day, similar to this one, when a lot of you might decide to leave this behind. Nothing is forever....even in cyberspace.
I just want to clarify - I did send several forum mails to people that I wanted to keep in touch with. I tried to send as many as possible while my son was napping. I never got around to sending more, and I just want people to know that I have not intentionally excluded anyone from my list - it's just simply too difficult to contact everyone you've ever chatted with on these boards! And to my friends who have already sent their kind and thoughtful words - thank you. I know I am doing what's best for me right now.
