So with the wedding day being officially over, does it ever make you depressed?
Original post by Mrs. V 2008
So Karin's post about posting our favorite wedding pics got me thinking about how much I actually miss my wedding day. Do any of you ever feel depressed that its all over..I go on the 09 board from time to time and just miss the whole wedding feeling and anticipation. I miss the day itself so much that at times its hard to come on here (I feel like its a distant memory). Do any of you feel this way?

I would have to say to no, I really thought that I would but it was just sooooo hectic with families flying in from all over the world and taking over my house.. and then having to cater to their needs.. ugh..
then of course we had multiple ceremonies and functions that lasted a few days.. after the first one.. I was beat.. and the wedding day itself before I got dressed was a bit stressful b/c I had to go pickup my flowers which never made it from the airport.. so I had to meet the guy on road to get them b/c we were running late.. but the wedding. reception everything went smooth... and the ceremony afterwards.. all went well.. even though it was a hefty price tag.. but now I get to live w/ DH.. so it was all worth it.. and I had fun planning and everything.. but not again..

I really miss it-see avatar...lol I was working full-time going to school mon-thurs and planning the wedding all at the same time, and was so overwhelmed that I was unable to enjoy the whole planning experience. It was more of a 'can't wait to be married so this whole planning thing is over' but that's just because of how stressed out I was. I wish I would not have been in school so I could have enjoyed it 100%

I definitely feel sad about it being in our past now. Especially, when I look back and think of things I would have done differently.

No I don't feel that way but I really think it's because I started my new job the week after we got back from the hm. I'm also looking forward to the next steps in our lives together. DH and I finally finished with school and wedding planning and it's nice to just 'be' together. I'm excited about the prospect of buying our own house this year and starting a family soon.
I had an amazing time at my wedding but it's nice to have nothing to do on weekends anymore.

Honestly, no. I was never SO happy somethign was over. Everyone always says 'oh it goes so fast' but honestly, it was the longest day of my life. At 9pm I turned to DH and said, omg we can't go home for another two hours! SOOO glad it was over. I'd never do it again. Wish we would have eloped!
OMG I felt like that day would never end! I was up at 4:30 am getting ready and I barely slept because I was so excited!

I wouldn't say that I get depressed but every so often I see something and fleetingly think 'that would be really cool for a wedding...'
Wouldn't mind trying on a few more dresses - that was the best part of the planning.
BUT - our wedding excitement isn't totally over - our honeymoon is in May so we still have something to look forward too!!

I was soo happy when we woke up the next day and the wedding planning was over. I love being a wife, being engaged was a lot of work. I was disappointed with the way things turned out for me on my day, my flowers were not good, my hair was horrible, but whatever. I would love to go back and change that stuff but I'd never have another wedding again. I am going to a wedding this weekend, and I am very happy to be a guest and enjoy myself while the bride and groom have to deal with all those little details!

Hmmm I thought I'd be more depressed but I am not.
The only time I get sad...or happy sad...is when I go to someone else's wedding! I always say to DH...'will you marry me again?' I just wish I could do it again because it was such an amazing feeling. I have watched our video like 6 times in 2 weeks and want to watch it like every day. I love our ceremony :)

The day FLEW for me...it was the fastest day of my life and i would do anything to relive that day again!! The feeling i had in my stomach when i woke up....the smile that i had on my face all day long...i can cry just thinking about it!
In regards to the planning i do miss it, i miss the running around and everything even though it was stressful, i enjoyed it.

Yes! I cant wait till some of my friends get engaged so that i can help them plan and can relive all of the fun and exciting parties but for them! I also cant wait to get my video so i can see it again...like you i feel like it was years ago and i hardly even remember the majority of the day, so i cant wait to see it on video....but as for now im happy that i can move on to other things like babies haha

I want to re-live my day sooo badly. Everything was 100% perfectttt!!! I totally miss the picture taking and Old Westbury Gardens. That was my favorite part. I wish I could wear my dress again and be a model bride for my photographer!! Haha.

Not so much anymore. For a full year after the wedding, I missed my wedding so much! All the anticipation leading up to it & I loved everything about my wedding day and wished to go back in time and do it all over again.
A few things changed that... seeing my video really helped me get over it & move on, and seeing the video was almost like reliving it anyway. Also when my dad got sick and died, I stopped wishing to relive my wedding day because it wouldn't be the same without him there.. instead I'm so happy I got married when I did, so that he was able to be there.

Re: So with the wedding day being officially over, does it ever make you depressed?
I don't miss it. I am happy that the planning and all the annoying questions like 'are you nervous and/or excited' are over. I had a great time, and I enjoyed booking things, getting my dress, shower, b-party, etc, but as the wedding grew near, I was ready for it to come, have fun and be over with. I picked up my photo and video back in December, loved how they came out, but was too lazy to make an appt to finish the products (finally went in this past Saturday and got it taken care of). But I put off making the appt because I was just so done with wedding stuff! I had a great time at my wedding, but I think I like going to other people's weddings more because you can relax more, and actually eat the food and drink! Hahaha. So I'm looking fwd to future weddings for my friends!

Re: So with the wedding day being officially over, does it ever make you depressed?
I do miss the Wedding itself. I mean, obviously i had the time of my life that entire week leading up to it. If I could do that all over again, I would in a HEARTBEAT! Even just looking at pictures gets me a little sad that it's over.
But with that said - i do not miss the 'planning' at all. I had a good time with it, but I was also pretty stressed out with all that had to be done. Not to mention that during the entire engagement, DH & I were living over 1,600 miles apart. That hurt like hell. I wouldn't wanna go thru that all over again.

Re: So with the wedding day being officially over, does it ever make you depressed?
I miss the wedding, the romance of being engaged, and the anticipation with all the planning. I guess it's like we're all so busy with wedding plans and the joys of we're getting married!' Then after the honeymoon and everything is over it's more like 'O.k. we're married... gotta go to work and make dinner when I get home' Maybe that's why we refer to it as the bride's day. I know sometimes I feel like I've traded romance for responsibility and I think that's why I get sad after the wedding. Bills replaced bliss and we cut back on our lifestyle to afford a house one day etc... it's an adjustement. I just remember I have someone who loves and a bright future ahead of us that will one day be a present.
