sort of personal...but I need an answer!! maybe TMI! Sorry

I feel silly writing this, but I don't know any other large group of women to ask where I wont feel awkward lol

For the past month or so my nipples have been SOOOOO EXTREMELY itchy. I have never, ever, ever, before experienced this ever. It's almost to the point where I am scratching so much I am bleeding. I have been looking online constantly and asking my own girlfriend and she has no idea, and the only things I am seeing is that women who are older ( like 40's/50's) who have that , normally means breast cancer.

While, I am thinking it may just be dry skin, and if it doesn't go away soon I will go to doctor, but I just wanted to know if anyone else has ever had this happen.

I am telling you, out of 26 years of life I have never had this happen, and it's so annoying and so freaking itchy! Any ideas?????

mine have been like this for months now!!!

I swear its just dry skin so I lotion them up (and sometimes even put baby oil on them) and its really been helping. Its not completely gone, but it definitely helps with the dryness.

Mine were like that after i went tanning recently. I think I may have burnt them. But they were so itchy that it hurt. I used A&D on them every day and it helped so much.

So it's most likely just dry skin right??? I tried lotion and it didn't really help, but I will keep it up and hope that it's just from the weather then. Thanks!

Sorry to crash and I don't mean to seem like I'm getting too personal with you, but aside from the itching, have you noticed any difference in the appearance of your skin? Does the skin resemble the outside skin of an orange? That can be a sign of inflammatory breast cancer. My former coworker was diagnosed with that a few years ago.

I'd say try changing your cleanser, moisturizer, etc. to sensitive skin formula. Also, try using Ivory Snow detergent on your bras to rule out an allergic reaction. If the problem persists, check with your doctor and be persistent if you need to. You know your body better than anyone.

no, nothing else has changed. Still the same ol boobs. =D

I didn't think about the bra thing. I think I also need to get some new bras soon. Maybe that has something to do with it?

I had something similar except it was the top of my breast. They were so itchy they drove me crazy. I wasn't sure if I should call the dermatologist or my obgyn. I called the obgyn and they prescribed me a cortizone cream. It helped and I was better in two days. They said it was probably just some allergy. I have gotten it back twice and went to the dr both time, and they said the same thing again its just something that irritates me, probably in my clothing or something I've used.

I have this same issue except its not just my nipples, its also my breasts pretty much the whole area covered by my bra. It began like mid- November but nothing had changed that I could recall: same bras, same detergent, same lotions and soaps, etc.

I went to my dermatologist for it and he still has yet to diagnose me. He put me on these heavy doses of antihistamines (like 4 different kinds at all diff times of day) b/c he thought it was this one thing that would only be fixed by oral antihistamines. Needless to say, it didn't do a thing so I stopped the meds.

I am going back to him next Thursday and I am just gonna tell him I think its dry skin and I am done medicating myself to high heaven. You would THINK he would've ruled out dry skin or a posible allergic reaction to my bras or something FIRST, wouldn't you?! Stupid doctors!

I really think it's somehow related to my bras b/c on weekends I try to go bra-less (as long as I'm not going anywhere) and the itching practically stops altogether!

You are not alone!!!

It is most likely dry skin, especially at this time of year. That is why everyone seems to be having this problem lately. Try some heavy cream, maybe cortizone.
