At my wedding we had 4 couple married over 50 years and 3 of them were over 55! It was an amazing testimony on marriage. From what I know they seem happy..they were all on DH's side.

I know a few, but it's funny you say that b/c DH and I were talking about it last week...
When you hear that someone has been married 36 years (which was the case) and are still in love, you're like 'WOW, that is amazing, I hope we are like that' But why should we be so amazed??? We have become do desensitized that it's more normal to have been divorced or married more than once than it is to stay happily married to one person all your life......weird.

Actually my grandparents were married close to 40 years and I swear you could see the love and devotion they had for each other in everything they did. I also lived in the same house (a 2 family house) until I was 16 and I got to see them interact on a daily basis so I know it was for real..not just what they showed people. I hope we are half as happy together after that long.

I mean my grandparents have been married for 65 years and yes they do love each other. But Im talking about the newer genaration. For my grandparents genaration it was basically unheard of to get divorced.
Now it is too acceptable. The genearation that my parents were in it was first starting to become acceptable to divorce. Which I think is why so many of my friends parents are divorced. In terms of numbers lets say out of 10 of my friends 8 of their parents are divorced. My parents never divorced and people would think that I was the weird one.

I know so many couples that have been happily married for many many years.
We did the anniversary dance and there were atleast 10 couples dancing after they called off the people married less then 40 years.

My inlaws and two or three of their siblings as well as their parents. Matt's grandfather used to sing love songs to his grandmother every night at dinner (of course this was after a martini or two )

Yup, Roger's sister and her husband, they still hold hands and kiss and do sweet things, but they work at it and they take care of each other. They are a team, it is so wonderful to watch them. They have been married 23 years. Roger said another secret was they moved away from Family and only visit
PS I forgot his other family in the Caribbean, so there is, his 2 brothers and one other sister. Lasting marriages are out there.
My pastor has been with his wife 56 yrs, he said if she packs a bag, he packs one too He asks her where are 'WE' going
One of my favorite church sisters have been married for over 26yrs.
