DH and I are in the process of buying a house...but we are having trouble. We are buying in NJ and you just don't get much for your $$$.
Anyone else in the process. OR..those who already have purchased a house...is it more work then you thought it would be?

Re: SPINOFF - How many of you already bought a house?
We bought our house in April. We specifically didn't want a fixer upper and we looked at lots of crappola before we found this one. We don't spend alot of extra time. The inside needs to be updated but we haven't started that because we are just enjoying it. Eventually, we will dormer it and stuff. Im never moving again. It was a pita! Otherwise, it was totally worth it!

Re: SPINOFF - How many of you already bought a house?
We bought our house August 05(7 months before our wedding) & could not be happier. Of course, we looked for over a year to find the house that we truly wanted. I think the most stressful part was the hunting & then once we had the accepted bid, we went back & forth a couple of times prior to going to contract.
We bought a newly rennovated home from a contractor. Luckily, when we moved in, we didn't have anything to do but paint our bedroom & furnish the house. The colors they picked through the bottom portion of the house was my taste. The only thing that was an extreme wreck was our yard. DH & my dad started on it immediately & now 2 years & it is practically done!

I'm actually from the Monmouth area originally, but it is way too far of a commute for me since I work in the city. Now we are looking in Union county. Cranford, Westfield, Clark area. Then eventually I would love to upgrade to Chatham, Summit, Short Hills...but that is WAY down the road. Congrats on buying a house. That area is so beautiful.
