I didn't really put lots of thought into it...I just always thought i'd take my DH's name and since his name isn't bad, it was like hey why not...
I didn't hyphenate because my maiden is a man's first name so it sounds silly...
And I was never that attached to my maiden til I got married....now I just still use it and people are like didn't you get married? lol I work in advertising though and will still use my maiden at work because otherwise my clients will ignore me thinking I'm stalking them for money...which generally I am, but at least they know me, hahha

Re: Spinoff to Natalies Name thread...
I changed to DH's name. I thought that it would take alot of getting used to but being a teacher and hearing my new last name all the time made it easier to get used to.

Well for professional reasons I wanted to keep my last name and for our future kids I hyphenated.

I took DH's. My name would be way too long if I hyphenated it and there was something appealing to me about doing it the old fashioned way. I know he was thrilled that I did.

I took DH's last name. I'm a teacher and I kind of use both names at work. Some kids call me by my maiden name, some by my married name. If someone didn't know I just recently got married they'd think I have multiple personalities!

Re: Spinoff to Natalies Name thread...
My maiden name is long and no one can ever seem to spell it or pronounce it. (I don't think it's that hard but I may be biased.) So I always wanted to take my husband's name. I also like the tradition of doing that, but I understand those who don't. I can see it both ways.
Hyphenating would just make it more difficult.

Re: Spinoff to Natalies Name thread...
Eventually I plan on changing my name over to DH’s, but I still haven’t gotten around to it.
Plus since we’re trying to buy a house I wasn’t sure if it would make it harder if all of my tax returns and things said one thing but I was putting the mortgage and stuff under another name.
But really my answer for not changing it yet is just bc of laziness.

Re: Spinoff to Natalies Name thread...
i changed my last name because I felt that DH would be upset if I didn't. It was very important to him that I change my name and I wanted to do it for him. do I love it? Nope but I am getting used to it and I know he loves hearing Mrs. Drinkwater

too funny Gina!!
I accidentally hyphenated... but I wanted it to be his name. I wrote my maiden name then his last name on the paper without the hyphen and the lady added the hyphen in.
I don't know if I can change that now... so I might end up having to keep it that way. I'll just go by Sands anyway!!

I took DH's...I'm traditional when it comes to those kinds of things. Plus I've always loved italian last names (and all the names I like for future babies are italian) sooooo being Mrs. DeVito makes me

Re: Spinoff to Natalies Name thread...
I'm taking DH's name because I'm very traditional. While I loved my maiden name, a good strong Roman name, my new last name is SO flipping cool, and what it means in Greek is even cooler....'Immortal.' AWESOME!!!!
*Maybe*, depending on how many if any girls we might have in the future, I'd like to try to get Simone in as a middle name for them, because then it at least carries on part of my last name. My dad has 3 girls and my uncle has 1, so my maiden name is officially dead, which is sad.

I kept my maiden name. While I will go by his name socially, in all legal aspects, I will still remain my maiden name. I love my name and it's been my identity for 41 years. I just couldn't give it up.

I hyphenated and its been a huge pain in my behind but oh well what can I do now, right?
I hyphenated because I love my maiden name and I'm my dads only child so I wanted to keep it and then I love DH's name so I def wanted to take it on.
Maybe I'll just start talking like the speed racer commercial guy and get it all in really fast so I don't get cut off anymore.

Re: Spinoff to Natalies Name thread...
I am keeping my maiden name temporarily because of jobs. My parents have a lot of connections to different school districts and DH's family lives in NJ. So Angelo is a lot more helpful right now. When I have a full time job (or before i have kids) I intend on changing it.
I will not hyphenate because they are both to long (3 syllables) and two names ending in vowels never sound right.
I am taking his name so I have the same name as my children and because its important to me.
When I was producing a lot of our child actors didn't have the same names as their parents and it really makes things difficult. I had to have proof they were the parents/guardians so that they could sign off on the releases. It made me realize how important it is to have the same name as your children if at all possible.
