I didn't really put lots of thought into it...I just always thought i'd take my DH's name and since his name isn't bad, it was like hey why not...
I didn't hyphenate because my maiden is a man's first name so it sounds silly...
And I was never that attached to my maiden til I got married....now I just still use it and people are like didn't you get married? lol I work in advertising though and will still use my maiden at work because otherwise my clients will ignore me thinking I'm stalking them for money...which generally I am, but at least they know me, hahha

I hyphenated...My brother was the last male in my dad's family so when he died so did the prospect of carrying on the family name. Dh and I have agreed that we will give our kids my hyphenated name. I tried to convince DH to hyphenate his name but he would not go for it...personally I think my MIL would have lost it.
