I was also really calm before mine BUT after we got engaged was a mess for a wedding I was in! We have only been to one wedding since we were married and come to think of it I was a little nervous but mainly just happy knowing what she was about to go through!!!

Re: Spinoff to the 'calm' post...
I'm always the guest that is always crying watching brides walk down, which of course was no different when I was walking down the aisle myself.
As far as being calm, before they opened the doors it felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest, the combination of nervousness and excitement was having a crazy reaction on my body. As soon as they opened the doors I saw my DH I felt relieved and happy. I was so choked up, I couldn't get to him quick enough.

I was very calm at my wedding and didn't cry... and I walked down the aisle BY MYSELF!
But I am the same as you, when i go to weddings I get so nervous and I always cry.

Re: Spinoff to the 'calm' post...
I'm going to my first wedding this Saturday since my own wedding. I'm wondering how I'll be.
I remember just feeling so many emotions behind that door. I was actually behind TWO doors so I didn't see a thing. I couldn't look at my dad, I couldn't talk (for once!) -- it was part happiness, excitement, sadness (for leaving my parents)....I was so overcome with emotion.
Walking down that aisle, I didn't even see my FH at first. But I made it a point to look all my friends/family in the eye. I was such a crying mess...my dad just whispered, 'Just Smile Lisa, Just Smile.'
Does anyone look at those pics now and STILL cry? I can not look at one with my Dad without burst into tears. Sitting here right now crying just thinking about it!
OMG, I am going to be SUCH a mess on Saturday!

I am right there with you leese...I am going to my first wedding on Monday & I am the MOH! It is my best friend in the world & I don't know HOW I am going to hold back emotions!!!! She is marrying her HS sweetheart & I am a mess right now thinking about it! It is such an honor to be her MOH & she was mine, so this is an entire emotional build up for us! We are like sisters!!!
I know the emotions she is going through & how excited she is. I see the glow she has & I am so excited for Monday!
I remember the feelings so well..I was so calm but just could not wait to get down the aisle to my FH & become his WIFE!!! When I see the pictures of my dad & I coming down the aisle, I get choked up now!!!
Oh no, I better remind Marie Katz (makeup artist) to give me WATERPROOF!!!

Re: Spinoff to the 'calm' post...
I was very calm before the wedding. I think my family was amazed because the whole bridal party was a nervous wreck. I was doing good on the way to the church and waiting to walk down the aisle. My Dad was really nervous but we were both doing good. Then....my limo driver was about to open the doors and he fixed my veil for me and gave me a pep talk and that did it, both my Dad and I got choked up. As soon as I got down the aisle and DH grabbed my hand, I was in tip top shape the rest of the way! Next Sat. will be my first wedding since my own and I am the MOH and the groom is my BIL and the bride is my best friend so I already told her that I am going to be a total MESS!

I was fine until the attendant pointed out the picture of my Dad on my bouquet just before I walked down the aisle. After that, my brother ask if I was ok and I said 'No. I miss Daddy.' Then the two of us were a mess.

When I walked in and saw all my friends looking at me, I was just very smiley and I wanted to wave like Miss America. So much for those demure photos of the bride entering. Mine did not look like that.
If I didn't have both my parents there, or even if DH didn't, I think I would have felt a lot like Leslie did.

So funny that you mention this. I do not know what came over me but when I saw friends I had not seen in a while, I waved and said 'Hi!!'

Yah, I wanted to wave and it is what I was thinking in my head!! I think I was kind of nodding at certain people. But here's a picture in which you can't really tell that in the inside I was waving at friends and asking how they're doin.'
