spinoff to wedding cheapos

We just found out that one of the checks we recieved as a gift bounced.
We were charged a fine, but the bank was nice enough to refund that money to our account.
We can't call the people, that would just be way to embarassing for them!
Did this happen to anyone else? What did you or the other party do? I was thinking wouldnt they KNOW their check bounced? And if they knew, wouldn't it be nice to send us another check, or a gift, or even just a note explaining what happened?

Happened to us too; when he was notified by his bank he called to apologize and say he would send another check. We have not received it.

My thought is that since the first check bounced he probably couldn't afford to give the gift anyway. I just wish he wouldn't have given us the check in the first place because we were charged the return check fee.

This happened to us as well. It was funny because it was my uncle who always acts like he is better then everyone. He received the bounced check and said 'oh, i'll get around to getting that check to you'. He sent it like 5 weeks later. My beef is that we are family and if your mortgage needs to get paid, that is WAY more important.

But yes, it is a very awkward position to be put in.

They do or will know their check bounced......their bank will contact them, if they are decent, they will send you a new check with some excuse and apology
