Spinoff form the generosity poll, do you have a favorite or least favorite gift.
My favorite was my SIL playing violin for the wedding, she is really shy and gets nervous playing in front of people but still played for our ceremony ...and played beautifully!
She rocks

Re: spinoff: what was your favorite gift?
This is going to sound sappy, but my favorite gift was when one of DH's nieces called me Aunt for the first time on at our wedding. Now for a regular gift it would be a slate placque with the claddagh symbol, our names and our wedding date.

One of MIL's friends made us a plate out of colored glass. It is beautiful. It was onr of 2 gifts that weren't monetary. I think I want to display it as well as use it.

My mom gave us a really nice picture frame that has our names and wedding date on it that I love. And DH's cousin is taking us to see Cirque De Soleil. I'm so excited.

That's awesome, I love handmade gifts!
Another one of my favorites was from my shower, one of my friends made a quilted wall hanging and she somehow found fabrics that exactly match the color scheme in our house - it so beautiful!

Re: spinoff: what was your favorite gift?
One of our wedding guests followed the photographer around after the ceremony for our picture taking so he got a picture of all of the posed shots. During our coctail hour, his daughters came up to me & handed me a big envelope & a beautiful album. I opened the envelope & there were blown up shots of some of our photos! The album waa FULL of pics from the ceremony & afterwards.
So basically, before I was introduced at my reception I had enlargements & an album! Considering what has happened with our photographer, I am so incredibly grateful to have these photos. He did a beautiful job!

My favorite gift was the horse and carriage my parents surprised me with...mostly because they truly went out of their way to make me happy and make my wedding day be the most magical and best day of my life, and I can never repay them or thank them enough for that.

Mine was this thing called a 'Matromonial Mola' that one of my bridesmaids gave use. It's a framed picture that she had made when she was in Panama over the summer. It's a sticked picture of two 'love' birds, it's in this beautiful frame and she even gave us a picture of the woman who made it. We love it, it was such a unique gift.

Re: spinoff: what was your favorite gift?
My favorite gift was our HM from my Dad. He raised my sister and I all by himself. He's been an amazing father and I could not be luckier. He also takes care of my Grandmother , the house, his girlfriend and her young kids all by himself (his gf doesn't work). So needless to say, he's always broke. He hasn't been on a vacation in, prob a good 20 years or so. Actually, it was probably his own HM to Florida. So for him to send us on such an amazing HM when he hasn't had the chance to go away was so touching to DH and I. He also had my Mom and brother stay at his house when they came up from Florida for my shower and the wedding. He didn't have to do that either, but he did. My Daddy is amazing!

Re: spinoff: what was your favorite gift?
ok, ours is sort of unique.....
it was done by a polish modern artist (DH is polish)..... and it has a moral too.... it is entitled 'drabiny' ('ladders'), and shows people mindlessly fighting with each other for the opportunity to climb endless ladders that lead to nothing..... (my aunt and uncle's way of saying 'don't work so hard that you have no life')
grotesque and beautiful at the same time.... its in our dining room. I look at it while I ponder whether I want to go to the lab
