Spinoff.... Who Pays the Bills???

Spinoff to my Post about how I Hate Doing the Bills.

Who handles the Finances???

i take care of everything
he works..i pay the bills

kind of an agreement..plus if it was up to him NOTHING WOULD GET DONE

he works 7 days a week 80 hrs a well as well

I do & I always have. I am in the process of informing DH & showing him how I do everything. God forbid if something was to happen to me, I need to make sure the bills can still get paid.

we used to each do our own...even though we lived together...apparently now that i'm his wife it's become my job...haha...i am better with money anyway

There are certain bills that he always pays and others that I always pay.

I handle all the bills!! if I didn't, they'd NEVER be paid!!!

We have a bunch of stuff on auto-pay. The ones that can't be auto-paid (like rent), the hubby takes care of ....

I would have to say DH does the majority of the bills. He is very particular about household finances so i let him do it for now.

We both do. We each have a list of bills that we cover. It works out the best way...

He's better with bills than I am but I budget better so I handle the budget and he handles the payments.

As far as what is paid, I do the rent and soemtines groceries and he handles everything else; car payments, loan payments, insurance, credit card bills etc. He makes more than i do so it just seemed the natural choice to us both.

We have separate checking accounts, split the MAIN bills, I pay the cable/phone/internet - he does all the food shopping... etc etc..

we both contribute to my son's college fund, and OCCASIONALLY we put a little $ away in either his or my son's CD.. Eventually we will combine our savings but these days we're not saving much...

We're both free to use our own money for our own purchases...

we moved in together when we were both in our 30s, have already lived on our own, so we're both set in our ways with bills etc..

It works for us.

I just paid them yesterday

I have learned to let DH know what our ending balance is because what he thinks it is and what it actually is are worlds apart.

now that we finally combined accts, he wants to take care of all the finances, which i'm hesitantly OK with. we just have different ways of taking care of the bills - i just always estimate, he does everything down to the last penny, so i guess it's better if he does them. but i know it's going to irk me, like yesterday i took $40 out of the ATM, and he actually asked why i needed $40?? that i dont' like.
