I would go and give a gift. I truly believe that you shouldn't ever compromise yourself- and I'm one of those people that wants to do the right thing. I don't do things for people because they are going to do for me.. I do them out of the goodness of my heart.

I am going to be in a similar situation. One of my friends gave me $13 toasting flutes as my wedding gift- and she came with a guest. When her wedding comes around I am going to be just as generous

I say give a nice card and nothing else. Unless between now and the wedding a gift miraculously appears at your house, then maybe I would consider giving something.

Stiffers are so RUDE. How can you live in NY and expect to NOT give a gift if you attend someone's wedding?!

I would opt NOT to attend any events for them. They don't deserve our friendship OR our well wishes.

I would definitely go to that wedding....stuff my face...and drink and dance all night and collect my favor and if no one is looking I might collect 2 favors. And just to show how nice i was I would giver her a card thanking her for my wonderful free night

tHAT JUST TICKS ME OFF, WE HAD THE SAME THING FROM AN UNCLE. I WOULD GO EAT, DRINK AND NOT GIVE A THING. YOU GET TREATED AS YOU TREAT PEOPLE. SHE OBVIOUSLY CAME TO YOURS AND WAS RUDE TO EAT, DRINK AND LEAVE WITHOUT EVEN A CARD TO WISH YOU BOTH WELL.

some people are crazy.... we were so surprised at how generous some guests were....(and then people like my first cousins, whose weddings I have been to and have given $$ even as a poor college student) stiffed me. Go figure.
