stinky Duet proofs

We just got our duet proofs and really dont like most of them.. some are ok, but we think our guests got better shots than they did..

we're REALLY disappointed.. they didnt take some of the shots we specifically asked for or screwed them up (like of the hand with the rings, which they took of US, not of the rings.. and they didnt get the shot from the end of the aisle in back of the room (fish eye) when we were up front during the ceremony.. they didnt get a good one of our place card table, which were decorated tins with customized M&Ms.. they didnt get the M&Ms.. i belive we specifically asked for most of these on the preliminary sheet and then again in person)..

We had a few 'thank you' sign shots but we dont like any of them so now we can't use those for the cards..

this freaking blows.. im not sure what to do.. i may need to call Eric and see if they have other photos they didnt give us in the proofs box.. right now we'll have a hard time picking photos for an album

I'd be pi$$ed. I'm sorry I just really don't understand why they don't let you see EVERY proof from YOUR wedding day.

I just can't understand the fee and why they don't give you the pics till AFTER you do your album. Why would they hold them back? What is the point of that? I'm just trying to understand why Duet does that....

That is their policy, and you know that when you sign their contract. I had in my contract that I would get a box of proofs with a minimum of 500 (maybe 600?) proofs. I got a box with 845 proofs. Obviously, on the day of your wedding you know they are taking more than 845 pictures and they use their judgment to pick the best ones. I mean, that is why I am so suprised that people are shocked that they don't get ALL of their proofs, it is in the contract!

I wasnt shocked that I didnt get all of them.. I was surprised at the number of crappy photos.. quantity does not equal quality

eta: and i was suprised that shots we specifically went out of our way to take were not included

I just remember that it said a minimum of 500 proofs would be printed. I mean, I felt like I could expect 500 and anything after that was gravy. From reading these boards, Ive seen anywhere from 600something to about 900something, so that is what I expected.

I agree with the OP though, having 1000 more proofs then I got doesn't necessarily mean that the pictures would be better.

I am expecting my album and CD soon, so I guess I will see what the CD is like.

Yea, I don't know. To me, minimum of 500 proofs means that you get at least that many. So you can get 500, 600 or 1000... as long as you get the 500 they promised.

I totally agree too that even if you get more proofs they might not be great, BUT at least you have them to make that judgement for yourself.

I totally agree, I thought that was what I was trying to convey, but my brain is a little mushy lately, so maybe I didn't get my point across.

I felt like people shouldn't be surprised with only x amount of proofs, as long as it was the amount hte promised or more, they were fuifilling their end of the contract.

Seriously, this may be making me retarded!

Something very strange just happened.. i called Duet to ask about the size for the t/u cards since i figure the best way to get what I want in terms of the layout and design is to do it myself in photoshop... so i spoke to Phil (who was pleasant) and requested a 'Read Only CD' of all the photos.. i mentioned that there were some photos we didnt see printed and that we would probably want for the album so we'd like to see all of them..

he looked up my account and told me it'd be $30.. he ordered it today so it will be ready at the end of the week..

I'm not sure what the problem was with Eric, but at least we'll get to see all of our photos before selecting for the album

oh no...i can't believe it...i think i will definitely have a talk with them and make them revise my contract . i wouldnt want anything like this want to happen to any Duet Bride...

I sitll am confident in the pics that they take...hopefully everything will go well...let us know when you see the read only CD and let us know if there are any pics in there that you liked.

I am not the least bit worried about anything having to do with Duet..... I am confident in Eric the owner and JAy my photographer.

I know, should there be anything wrong with my pictures- Eric will handle it with no problems.

There was a recent '06 bride who complained about her Duet proofs and can I tell u they were the best that I have ever seen... so not really sure what her complaint was really about!!!

sorry to hear this. take another look with fresh eyes, i'm sure they will look better to you.

and i think we are our own worst critics and its hard to accept from someone else that something we feel looks bad, looks good. like once we have it in our head that we hate it, nothing can be done to change our minds.

Why they would make us pay 30 bucks for an unedited CD that cost 30 cents is beyond me. All they have to do is move all the pictures from their harddrive into the CD. :P What's so hard about that?

Because it isn't part of your contract. You are asking for an extra service and that costs money. You aren't paying for the CD per se, you are paying for the time for them to copy it, get it to you, etc. And since it isn't part of your contract, they could charge you an arm and a leg, luckily they don't.

I was REALLY disappointe too when i got mine from Duet. But after looking at them again, Ive grown to like many of them. Some actually are really great! But on first sight, i was SO upset

exactly... and to be honest $30.00 is a drop in the bucket to have EVERY SINGLE picture they took that day! I am completely pleased with it!

Because it is not in your contract! Future Duet brides now know that they can talk to them about this option, but it isn't something they offer usually in their contract, that is why you have to pay extra. It is akin to if you wanted more enlargements and it wasn't in your contract too. When you sign your contract you agree to a minimum of 500 prints, obviously, they are taking more than 500 photos, but that is what you agree to in your contract and the contract says nothing about a CD.

To answer another PP's question, I had Alberto's team and loved him and loved my photos. FM me if you want to see.
