okay--so i just got a voice mail from a friend of mine---since getting married--we don't see each other that much cause she's still kind of in the 'single' scene -- clubbing and stuff. (even though she has a 10 year old) -- and we're just not into that.
weeeeelll---she called to invite us over to a housewarming party she is throwing next sunday---at her new apartment. (she must have finally moved out of her baby's daddy house--they had been separated for the past year and she was just living there--but they weren't 'together')
in the voicemail she actually mentioned 'i registered at Target---soooo hope to see you there'
um---i always figured housewarming registries were usually for when you buy a house or condo -- but she's just renting? plus--isn't it a little odd to leave a voicemail msg and say you're registered? i dunno--just seemed weird to me

I think it's very tacky! Not so much the registering, but definitely that she left you a voicemail mentioning it! That would annoy me.
Yep. exactly what I thought. The fact that she registered is not the problem its the fact that she mentions it in a voicemail...ugh.

i think the VM about where she is registered is kind of...ehhh. like others said, kind of makes it seem like shes more interested in the gift than company...not to mention, makes it seem like youre forced to buy her a gift from the registry. id bring a gift anyways for a house warming party, without needing to be told. making the announcement can be kinda tacky.

whaaat??? that's weird... my former roommate and I had a house-warming party when we moved into our apartment and we didn't go register for anything - even though we needed lots of stuff b/c we were poor single twenty-somethings!! In fact we told people NOT to bring gifts..but most people did anyway. That is definitely tacky IMO... especially since it's a rental apartment... I don't know, I think it might be different if she had bought a house...but still weird. I've never heard of such a thing!
