ya know, as a yankee fan i have to say im glad. i LOVE joe torre and think the treatment he has received from the yanks as of late has been disgusting. im glad he said no and left with some dignity.

Yes I agree with the two recent posts- GOOD FOR HIM!!! It was a crazy contract they offered him...performance-based (incentives for making the postseason)...and it was only a year. It's like they were giving him a trial period...on some kind of probation. Screw them!!! He deserves better than that.
I LOVE that man. He seems like an amazing person. But I think it is certainly time for new management.
Don Mattingly? I feel like it would be more of the same, wouldn't be much of a change from the Torre administration.
I say Joe Girardi! We need a youthful, fiery manager and he is just brilliant!!! Former Yankee, was a catcher- has the perfect mind for baseball.
Funny thing is - the first I heard about it was from my mom. Stupid me had the E! channel on while I was doing cardio rather than YES - and I usually put YES on. DUH!
I must admit...it hasn't hit me yet. Once I really think about it I'll probably I LOVE that man. All I can see is that sweet, paternal face....crying when they win, hugging his players- he is just AWESOME. It just won't be the same.

i totally agree with all the posts about him walking away from that bull sh!t contract. i think it totally stinks how management felt a 'performance based' contract was necessary. i mean, seriously, they may not be winning championships every year, but they are easily the team that consistantly wins the most.
even a mets fan loves joe torre!! (and that would be me )
