Tell me how long it took...

Tell me how long it took...

to get your thank you's out...

I'm having trouble with my photographer and I am way past where I would like to have been when I sent them out...

I plan to write apologies in the cards, but still...

How long is too long?!

Etiquettely (sp?) speaking you have a year from the day of your wedding.

The majority of mine were done in 2 months. But we didn't include pictures, so we didn't have to wait on our photographer.

You're still in great shape - I've gotten many a thank you 6 months (or more!) after the wedding...

Actually, I 've heard that the year rule is a misconception. People have a year to send a gift, but you are supposed to write the thank you immediately. The standard for people that send pictures tends to be 3 months.

I too am waiting for pictures & have gone past the 3 month mark. I am hoping to have them out my the 4 month mark. I wasn't sure if I should write appologies in them, or only if it went more than 4 months. I received a thank you from a friend about 8 months after their wedding & it didn't even have a picture.

The rule of thumb that I heard is 3 months. What is the problem with the photographer? Can you write all the cards now and address them so all you have to do is stick the pictures in or are you getting the photo cards?

Mine were done in less than 2 months.

I am still not done. It is bothering me. But I got really sick and moved into a new house. My mom keeps telling me that I have six months and that no one is keeping track anyway.

Hey Peanut....I got married the day before you and mine are finished and mailed. It really depends on how fast your photographer is. Ours was quicker than we thought.

You don't have to write apologies in the card if you don't want to. People expect to get them 3-6 months after the wedding. I wouldn't worry.

Mine went out right before or right after thanksgiving. LOL It took a while for us to choose. Suprisingly 'the Photographer' had the photos done like in a week.

I'm pushing six months and still haven't gotten them out. It took two weeks to get them from Duet, but I ordered them pretty late. We are in the process of buying a house and I wanted to include our new info. The closing date is set for Feb 7 so, I'm hoping to get them out by mid-Feb.

I just finished mine this month...

But, I think you have up until 1 year..

If you feel like going this route, you can just buy regular thank you cards and pick a picture that you really liked that someone took for you and make wallet sizes out of them. It will be more $$$ for you, but you should complain to your photographer and have him reimburse you the cost.

I am still working on mine. We only got our pics two weeks ago and the cards and wallets came in on Friday. I want to get them out asap.

I don't know if this will help you, but if you think it's going to be hard to think of things to write you can do what I did (since I was getting anxious). I started writing the notes in a word document on my computer as if I was writing out the cards. Then when I got the cards I just copied (and edited, if needed) into the actual card. It's hard for me to think of things to say and this helped, and now it'll save me a little time.

We were firm with our photographer about getting our wallets back quickly. I think it's rude to send Thank you's later than 3 months. If I were getting close to that mark, I would send them without the pictures and then get something else from my photographer instead. JMO...

Not sure what etiquette says but I did mine asap because I wanted to do it beofre I went back to work in Sept. My wedding Was July 31st and I sent them all out by August 25th.

3 months.

the '1 year' thing was never printed in an etiquette book. What WAS printed is that guests have 1 year to give a gift. The year to send a thank you was a misconception built off of that...

Re: Tell me how long it took...

I still haven't sent mine out. I won't be writing apologetic thank you's. Most people don't even know the 3-month-etiquette rule for thank yous... maybe if you want just apologize to the ones who would be aware (recently marrieds, recently engaged, older people)
