Re: tell me what mistakes not to make

Dont seperate from your new husband for one minute during the reception. You will lose each other with the sea of people at the affair. 5 minutes alone with Uncle Neil could easily turn into 20 minutes of being apart. People want to see you together. Makes the affair. Make a deal with each other that you wont leave each others side.

I agree with sept20yay...

Don't sperate! Make a pact before the wedding to visit people TOGETHER. We did not and we wasted so much time greeting people 2x seperately instead of 1x together. It was very frustrating.

I don't see being separated as such a bad thing. As long as you're together as people are starting to leave (ie: after the cake and coffee is served) then I don't think you need to be tied at the hip with your DH all during the reception.

Re: tell me what mistakes not to make

If you are planning to have your ceremony and reception in the same location realize the impact this will have on the time available for your photographs and video. It's really convenient for your guests but it guarantees you less time at your reception because there is no lag time between the ceremony and the reception. We took pictures all throughout our cocktail hour and a good chunk of our reception and that is my only regret.

I agree... it would have been IMPOSSIBLE to stick together ALL NIGHT. We were separated when he had some pics taken without me (father/son group and mother/son group) but i was out there dancing!!! it would have been a waste for me to stand there watching him have his picture taken. (but he DID disappear when i was greeting a few people on my side of the room... but no biggie, he saw them later and he knows them all already)

But we were together for MOST of the night.

Re: tell me what mistakes not to make

I have to agree with all the girls who said let it all go.

Sept I have to disagree with you on the wrinkles, dirty train and grass on the shoes.

Once you go down that Isle don't worry about the wrinkles or the dirt (you can't prvent either, unless you spend half the reception cleaning and irioning yourself)

Have fun. When you wake up that day let it all just happen around you. It is no longer in your control. If the flowers aren't right.....nobody knows but you.

Re: tell me what mistakes not to make

yeah, don't sweat the small stuff!!!

at one point my toe poked through the end of my stocking and caused a slight run, and later i saw that the crinoline was scratching my stockings up, but I really didn't care! I didn't bother changing them, because who's really going to see them? And whos going to care? I was having too much fun! I was actually showing people!

Re: tell me what mistakes not to make

Thanks to the girls who said they didnt stick by hubby like glue either. We were together a lot, but we went several times to greet the guests while they were sitting separately. it gave us time to cover our family and freinds and talk to everyone. We enjoyed every second together and apart!
