Thank You Cards: Is this tacky?

I was going to make our own design and then get them printed on a post card (Vista Print has it), and on back of it put a message that's already printed on, we'll sign them and send it. Keep in mind majority of my guests don't even expect a thank you card.

Ideally, don't want to put in envelopes...

What do you guys think?

umm.. eh. Kinda impersonal.

Why do your guests not expect thank you cards?

Re: Thank You Cards: Is this tacky?

It's just something atleast from our culture (the area I'm from), people don't normally do thank you cards.

What if I did the post cards, and then did a personal message on them for everyone...but still did a postcard?

Maybe... im still kinda iffy on this one...

I totally hear you on the culture thing and that makes a lot of sense but I personally feel for such a big deal, for being part of such a big occasion every one should be writen out.. stamp, envelope - the whole presentation just looks nicer.. but thats just me...

Re: Thank You Cards: Is this tacky?

Nay.

ETA: that would be too impersonal, especially for the people who do expect a thank you card.

Re: Thank You Cards: Is this tacky?

i don't think there's anything wrong with a personalized post card (ie: write something to each person) .... i actually like the post card idea

I don't think there's a problem with a postcard but I would write a personal note to each one of your guests.

Re: Thank You Cards: Is this tacky?

i dont have any problem with the postcard (although it is a bit 'informal' if that matters to you), but I'd definitely write a personal note on the back, no matter waht.

Just curious, where are you from that it's not expected?

Re: Thank You Cards: Is this tacky?

My bestie did a postcard for her thank yous...

Photo on one side, space for the note and the address on the other side - however, she did include a personal note and wrote 'love, katie & joe' in the address space... she put her postcards in envelopes since she didn't want the photo to get ruined in the mail, but it was really cute nonetheless.

She did a postcard STD also so it fit her style.

Re: Thank You Cards: Is this tacky?

Yeah, I forgot about the whole postcard could get ruined in the mail. I think I might just go ahead and do a regular thank you card, get a nice envelope for them and voila. This way we can write specific messages to people.

I'm Albanian --- I'm sure certain regions it is expected, but atleast where my family and hubby's family are from, it's an unheard thing.
