thank you notes

how long after the wedding did you guys send them out and where did you get ideas for the wording? are you supposed to say something about the gift, or mention it in any way if it was money?

Re: thank you notes

It took me 6 months...partly b/c I am a slacker but also b/c I got my proofs 3 months after my wedding.

My sister bought me a 'thank you' writing book but I mostly threw in personal notes about the gift and other stuff.

Re: thank you notes

I was a evil bride and it took me just over 3 months to send them out. I know that is like murder in the Etiquette Ten Commandments but it was more important to me to make sure my thank you notes were geniune than to rush thru them.

Most of my notes thanked the guest for sharing the day, thanked them for their generousity and where appropriate thanked them for other stuff that we have shared in the past. I also included photos from the disposable cameras if they were in any good ones.

My husbands thank yous were a lot more 'canned' which I hated but that was his choice. He got his ideas from reading mine :D
