So... I'm in the middle of writing out my thank yous and I don't know what to do about people who came to the wedding but haven't given us a gift 'yet.'
Should I write out a card that just thanks them for coming to the wedding, or should I wait until we recieve their gifts (and not send it out with the rest of the thankyous)??
I need advice!

Re: thank you question...
DH says to send nothing. I am not sure....I would thank them for coming but make it obvious that that is all you are thanking them for... i am not sure what to say actually. If they manage to send you something then, I would send a thank you note for that afterwards.

I didn't send a thank you to those people. Not until I received a gift.

Re: thank you question...
You should still send them a thank you - they did come to your wedding and spent the day with you. Since we had a couple of people that attended our wedding that were not doing well financially or spent alot of money to come to our wedding - we still sent them a thank you. We were so happy that they still wanted to spend the day with us.

I just thanked people for coming if they didn't give a gift. That way if they did give one, maybe they'll know we didn't get it, their effort to be there isn't overlooked, and I got my thank yous done. If they send a gift later, I'll happily send another thank you!

Re: thank you question...
Ok- thanks everyone. I was leaning towards sending one anyway, but was wondering if people might interpret the thank you as me trying to remind them about not sending a gift... But overall, I guess it would be better to thank them for coming than it would be to ignore thanking them for their presence.
So its settled- I'll send them!

You should still send a thank you... although you hope that everyone will give you a gift, no one is expected to give you one. I think it's rude to show-up empty handed to a wedding, especially a LI wedding, but they do have the right too since we don't send registry lists with the invites.
Just say thank you for sharing in our special day - no more.

Re: thank you question...
I have a couple like that, and I wasn't going to send one, but I realized I really like these people, I was happy they could be there, and they are generally very generous. So, either they haven't gotten around to a gift yet, or they have hit hard times financially. I still want to thank them for schlepping out to my wedding.

Re: thank you question...
I still sent thank you cards to thank people for spending the day with us. The people we didn't get gifts from were circumstances we knew about.....2 relatives came from across the country to be with us and one of DH's friends came without his wife because she lost her Mom a few days before the wedding. They live upstate so we rarely see them but they keep saying they don't want to just mail a check, they want to take us out and give us our gift. And they all gave us cards to congratulate us.

Since your wedding was pretty recent, you should wait a little bit. If still nothing, then thank them for coming.

No gift = no card!
Yup. Considering I had four no gifters...
one... my brother
two... the best man
three... my deadbeat cousin who bounced a check and then lied about sending another one
four... my financial advisor... how's that for ironic... should I say, formal, financial advisor
