Before we know it, it will be here. Where are you spending this thanksgiving at-- your families, DH's family, both? J and I have to split our time and go to his family in afternoon and then have dinner in my brother's house at night time. I hate all the running around on holidays.

Re: Thanksgiving
We split every holiday so that we get to see every one. We'll go to my family's during the day, then DH's family at night

Re: Thanksgiving
Our parents live two blocks apart! So dinner with his family and then dessert with mine WHICH turns into dinner at BOTH houses since my family is always so late LOL

Re: Thanksgiving
Guys we will do what we did last year, go to DH's family in the afternoon and my parents house in the evening. I rather spend the night with my fam. Unless they suggest for us to go over DH's fam's house like we plan to do for x-mas, but I highly doubt his sis would like to host 2 x's.

Re: Thanksgiving
well the plan was for me to cook thanskgiving dinner and do it with both families together at the same time but we'll see, i have a feeling we'll be in the middle of moving at that exact time
usually though we do thanksgiving at my house bc his family usually goes upstate, and i used to work the day after so was hard. Then christmas eve with his family and christmas day with mine. But hopefully i'll be able to do christmas and have both families over

Re: Thanksgiving
The past two years we spent Thanksgiving with DH's brother and we will probably do that again this year, if not a friend's house. Christmas Eve is with DH's family and Christmas is with my family.

Re: Thanksgiving
My SIL's house, but the wonderful thing is, My family and DH's Family has gotten very close over the years. For the last two years or so, we have been spending most holidays all together. Therefore, both families will be together for Thanksgiving!

Re: Thanksgiving
DH's parent's live in fla. My sister has a big thing for her husband's family (he is one of 8 kids) which is a large. She asks me to go to my mom's, so she is not alone. He food is so greasy that it kills me to eat it though, I have a bad stomach. DH wants to do thanksgiving alone this year. We may both work the day shift-till 3 pm, but we will be together. We have gone to one brother's before. It changes year to year. Christmas depends on the day I have my kids. I share it with my ex-when I have them, we get together with my family. The other day we get together with DH's brothers. We generally do New Year's with them too. I also have to work Christmas this year, which I am very upset about.

Re: Thanksgiving
We are pretty fortunate because my family gets together on holidays around 1 and his family gets together around 3 or 4. We go to my family's house and eat, all courses and then go to his family's house and eat again lol
I don't think we'll host a holiday until there are kids in the picture and we turn into what our parents host...dinner for us, the granparents and aunts/uncles/cousins of our own children. If I wanted to invite the people who get together for his holidays AND mine, we'd have over 40 people over our house and that is just insanity!

Re: Thanksgiving
Well....we used to split it up..then it got exhausting. We pick one and thats it. This year we are having everyone over my place! Cant wait!!! My dh is cooking the turkey! Once we get a house we will have thanksgiving every year and invite both sides of the entire family for now its just immediate on both sides.

its funny but im the opposite and from now on I am going to really push to do the holidays. I'd rather do it this way then travelling back and forth though so thats why. My mom always hosted so i guess i just got used to not having to travel so now i want to do that hahaha. Oh wait one time I did go elsewhere for thanksgiving and the traffic was a nightmare so maybe thats what sticks in my head haha.

I hear ya. With the exception of ONE Thanksgiving when we went to his aunt's house ALL the way out East, we are always at one of his family's house or mine, and we are all within minutes of one another. We can take back roads if we wanted to and get to a relatives house in like three minutes lol So for us it's not a mattter of traveling.

Re: Thanksgiving
Well originally we were going to go by my mothers house but I am trying to convince Dh for us to drive down to NC and visit his parents. We normally split a holiday or for the past 2 years we have been going to NC in January (it's not the same).

I agree I rather host than travel. I love being with our families but it takes a lot out of you.

Re: Thanksgiving
We always spend Thanksgiving together, in past years, We split it up by doing my family early and his later So we eat 2 dinners.
Last year, i didnt want to travel and we were living with his parents so we just stayed at their house for thanksgiving
This year i really wanted to host but our house is not ready yet. So We have an invite at my Sisters Mother in laws house.
Waiting to see what his family is doing.

Re: Thanksgiving
For my entire life, we've gone upstate for Thanksgiving and Black Friday shopping. DH's family doesn't do anything.
This year, we both work at Tanger, and I highly doubt that we'll get out of working on Friday, so we're staying home. It's either going to be turkey cutlets or Chinese food. We haven't really decided yet.
Maybe I should look into reservations......
