Thanksgiving

Original post by RadiantBride

Before we know it, it will be here. Where are you spending this thanksgiving at-- your families, DH's family, both?
J and I have to split our time and go to his family in afternoon and then have dinner in my brother's house at night time. I hate all the running around on holidays.

Re: Thanksgiving

we alternate diffrent houses/fams every year. this year would be DH's mom turn but she lives in florida and we can not afford to fly there for a holiday!!! let alone take off work long enough to make it worth it. so it gets bumped to my moms turn and i only attend hers when it is at her house because she switches it up to and this year wasnt supposed to be at her house but for some reason it is so it all works out. and for thanksgiving we normally stay at that one house we cant stand the running around!!! but this is our last year NY so we might have to bounce around!!

Re: Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was always very low key in my house (usually b/c it comes after a ton of Jewish holidays and by then my mother was exhausted). So ever since I started dating DH Ive gone to his house for Thanksgiving and my parents and sister have been joining us starting when we got engaged so luckily we dont have a Thanksgiving issue.

Re: Thanksgiving

well, we had our first married Thanksgiving last year, which was the day we returned from our honeymoon. Luckily, our parents live a mile away from each other, so we had dinner with my parents and dessert at his house.

This year though, I'll just stay at my parents house, because DH is deployed so he'll miss Thanksgiving luckily, we don't usually have too much holiday craziness since our families live so close to each other

Re: Thanksgiving

DH and I are hosting both immediate families at our place this year.
Usually we do Thanksgiving in NJ with my immediate & extended family, Christmas Eve with his, Christmas Day with mine.

Re: Thanksgiving

DH is on a clinic rotation so he actually gets off on Thursday. Unfortunately, he got complete screwed for the rest of the week and is working Friday-Sunday too (I cannot wait until he's done with residency). Since our families live in NY and we live in NC, we will not be traveling for the holidays.

We may invite some people to the house and break in our new china, though.

Tofurkey for everyone (unless DH decides to make the turkey because this vegetarian refuses to pull those bags out of the turkey's butt).
