just wondering how everyone feels about their spouse going to bachelor/bachelorette parties after ya'll are married or engaged. i don't think it's okay for the guy or the girl to go, but i wanted to see if i'm being unrealistic or not

Re: thoughts on bachelorette parties after ur married
I think its perfectly acceptable for spouses to go to b-parties after you're married.
Now, I personally have a thing against strip clubs in any situation -- so, if the b-party is at one, I'd ask DH not to go to that portion of the party. Thats just me though.

right there with you. Don't like strippers (male and female) but see nothing wrong with going out with your friends to celebrate.

I don't see anything wrong with it. I am sure we will both attend b-parties for friends of ours in the future.
It wouldn't even matter to me if there were going to be strippers or a strip club.
DH & I don't put limits on what we should or shouldn't do ... we trust each other to have our own limits and not participate in anything that would demean our relationship ... which would include being physical with said strippers.

Re: thoughts on bachelorette parties after ur married
I don't LOVE the idea of it all with the men at the strip clubs but this is what they do Honestly I know him and I am o.k with it if I have to be.
I don't even like to attend those nasty Bacholrette gigs with strippers.ewhh NO! I always try and get out of them when I learn that is what is going to go on!
What I DON'T approve of is this. The Men going away for a long wknd or longer to places where what stays in such and such place stays there. That I won't tolerate for sure. NO husband of mine is going away on a F fest in some gosh forsaken place w/a bunch a hornie idiots for days on end. NOT HAPPENING.
I can't even believe the girls that still want to marry these guys, it is soo disrespectful!
I wonder if I am going to catch slack for posting all of this

Same here. Personally I would not want to miss a friend's bachelorette party and therefore would definitely let my DH go to one of his friend's bachelor parties.

Re: thoughts on bachelorette parties after ur married
just to clarify : me not liking strippers has absolutely nothing to do with trusting my amazing husband. I know that these 'professionals' tend to touch the people attending these parties and I would prefer if a woman that takes her clothes off for a living didn't touch my husband b/c I don't necessarily think much of her and wouldn't put it past her to be high and possibly sporting an STD. The same goes for male strippers. I dont' like them for the same reason and would never allow one to touch me.

I didn't mean for my comment to be inflammatory or anything .... it wasn't targeted at anyone who doesn't like the idea of strip clubs or strippers or b-parties ....
I'm sorry if you thought that's what I meant

Does that make more sense?
I'm gonna edit my above comment so I don't offend anyone ...

Re: thoughts on bachelorette parties after ur married
whats the big difference of your DH going to a bach. party now that he has a ring on his finger vs. when he was 'single' but committed to his significant other?
dh just went to a bach party a few weeks ago---he came home and told me about it--probably one of the nastiest parties i've ever heard of--but i trust him enough to go and do nothing suspect. i'm sure he'll go to many more for years to come....doesn't bother me at all.

Hey babe, It's ok. you don't have to clarify. I just felt that I should b/c I didn't want anyone mistaking me not liking male and female strippers as a sign that DH and I don't trust each other. I just really find them and wouldn't want them touching me or DH. there is no shortage of trust in our relationship. I find this profession questionable, among other things. Just my opinion. I know many women and men feel differently...but that's the way it is for me.

Re: thoughts on bachelorette parties after ur married
i have no problem with it at all. just because we're married, doesn't mean he can't participate in certain activities. what happens when his single friends that came to his bach party, now have their bach party, and he says he can't go because he's married?? things like that shouldn't change just because you're married. i have a friend who will hopefully be getting engaged soon, and she's always planned to have her bach party in amsterdam. you can be sure i'll be there! DH cannot tell me not go, nor would he. this is JMO.

Re: thoughts on bachelorette parties after ur married
Unrealistic, maybe. Were all of your friends single? Then the last of the single friends has no one at their party? Try to think of it that way.
IMHO I tust DH 100%, so he go where ever he pleases, I trust him.

We don't go to strip clubs, so he wouldn't go if it was there, but guys night out, drinks and stuff, I don't see why not.

all for a good party and think DH should do the same... though preferably without strippers because I think they are disgusting.

Re: thoughts on bachelorette parties after ur married
I think you might be being a little unrealistic, especially if you have single friends still. My BF is still single and I would rather poke my eye out with a fork then ever miss her BP. That's me though and I'm always up for a wild night out!
As an aside, at the last BP I went to, us ladies ended up in Scores (very long story) and I have to say, now that I've seen the whole scene, it has relieved any of my anxieties about them. It's not so bad.

I dont see anything wrong with it-not all people that get married are the only ones that get married-other friends get engaged, etc.
