Tonight is my last night...

Tonight is my last night...

on birth control, for awhile at least!

I am finishing up a pack today, and I guess thats that.

Is anyone as nervous to do this as I am? I am literally hyperventilating, not at the idea of having a child, but at the idea that allll these years I have been preventing something, and in a few months I will actually be hoping for it.

I guess I'm also freaking that my life 'plan' didn't work out how I thought it would, meaning I will still have to work FT after I have a child, even though we originally planned not too. It's so hard for me to accept that I will have other people watching my child. But me and DH want a life for our children that we could give them only if I work FT. It's so hard, and feel like no one I talk to really understands. My SAHM sister is like, well I would try everything to be able to stay home with my kids. I would love to, but it just doesn't seem feasible. And we are young, so the obvious reaction would be to just wait, until you can save money so you can stay at home, but I would be working until I'm in my late 30s to do that, and I didn't get married at 23 to wait 10 years to have a child.

I guess this goes to show that plans never work out. I tried to plan out my life so well, and it just didn't pan out the way I planned. I just read this book, The Buenos Aires Broken Hearts Club (it was cute!) and it was about a girl who planned her life so well and it ended up going completely different then she planned.

ugh, sorry for the long vent. please don't quote, i may be removing.

It's so funny you should post something like this - I was thinking to myself today...boy just even a year ago I wasnt even married yet -was just focused on getting ready for the wedding, and now Ive changed over from taking pregnancy tests when I was late to taking ovulation tests to see when Im ovulating ...my goodness how things change!

I am TOTALLY nervous... I really want a baby but the whole pregnancy/labor thing is one of my biggest fears in life! We said we might start trying at the end of the summer and I'm looking forward to it but dreading it at the same time, so you're not alone!

I completely understand you! I mean, it's no secret that DH and I don't believe in medicinal BC, but we do try to prevent, but every month we push it and push it...I kind of think almost secretly hoping for an oops. But it's really scary too...I feel like I'm going to have to work after at least the first kid, but maybe if we're lucky I can stop after the second. So I completely understand, it's normal! And I was married at 24 too, so even though my brain says wait, something inside is like then wth didn't we wait another 2 years to get married? And DH probably would have been a little more pleasant about it then too lol.

I feel the same way...I cam off BC in January and would so love to have a baby soon, DH would like to wait a lil longer, but we'll see. I too am feeling sad about the fact that I will most likely have to continue to work FT when I have children. It something that I said I would never do, but this is reality. It makes me so sad that someone else will be with my child all day and I miss out on some of thier 'firsts'
So I completely understand where you are coming from

YES me I am nervous too and I am glad to hear I am not the only one. I will be going off the pill soon. I have been on it BC for 10 years. I also worried that I will break out and cycle will be all messed up once I go off the pill. And the whole pregnancy/labor process freaks me out as well.

Thanks for posting this it made me feel a little bit better as well as everyones comments

Re: Tonight is my last night...

I feel the opposite fear, I am scared to try because I am not working and can't find a job. I am afraid we can't support a child without working. I would also do anything to be a stay at home mom though. I loved having my mom home and I think it really shaped me growing up and was great for her as well. She was cookie mother, class mother, a tennis coach, she was so involved in my life and I want that. But its just not feasible today like it was then.

However you are young and you could wait a year or two at least and see what happens before you give up on that dream. Who knows how things would turn out. 23 is young to feel pressure to start.

I however am 30 and waiting until we feel financially stable is killing me.

It's ok. Life never works out like we hope it to, but you will be ok no matter what happens.

Haha, I know, I am off the pill but not for getting pregnant, but rather to prevent all the stupid side effects the last few pills have caused. I hate not knowing the exact day I am going to get my period. I am really nervous about it now.
