Let me start by saying that I am NOT trying to start drama.....
I would like to know why someone would take their child to an licensed day care center.
I do not understand and thought that someone could shed some light on this for me.
TIA

Re: Unlicensed Day Care
Yes there are all different licensing. There is family daycare which is one provider with a maximum of 6 with any children under the age of 2. There is group family daycare, 2 providers for 12 children.
Small group which is 4 providers for 20 children, and than daycare center which I am not positive on the rules other than 1 provider or worker for every 4 infants (under the age of 2).
Than there are school license, such as for pre-k and nursery schools.
The daycare where the little girl choked was only licensed as a nursery school providing care for 2 1/2 hrs of care for children age 3 and over. There were not licensed to provider care for the entire day or for children under the age of three. I am sure these providers were not bad people, they were just not educated or were not following the bi-laws. In either case the program should not have been caring for children they were not licensed to watch.
Many parents look at the bottom line, how much money it costs. Because a licensed program has to spend so much money out on equipment, accredited food, curriculum, and insurance, they charge more. Its sad but this is how it is.
