Update: Taking a class at the Gym. I did it!!

So, I'm taking a class at my gym tonight and I'm nervous.

I exercised ALOT with my trainer leading up to wedding and have been slacking for the past few months. I went to the gym three times in a week but I wanted to 'take it up a notch.'

I've never taken a group class before and I'm really nervous that I'm going to spazz out and make a fool out of myself... Here's the description... Should I do it???

Total Body Conditioning
This workout uses weights and/or bodybars to promote muscular endurance, flexibility and body alignment

So, I went to the class and it was not bad at all!!! In fact, I think I'm going to the class on Thursday!!!

Do it!! I used to love taking classes at the gym. There will be people at all different levels, so don't worry. Only do what you feel comfortable doing. Classes are a great way to stay motivated, when you have someone telling you that you can do one more! Have fun!

I have taken these. You don't need as much coodination as with, say, a step, hip hop, or kickboxing class.

You should be fine. Stay in the back like I always do lol If you do spaz out, and someone laughs, just drop your weight bar on their foot

Yes I have done those and they are very easy to follow but VERY HARD. Go light with the weights....they usually do alot of reps and you will tire out easily. You may not be able to walk the next day! LOL

But overall it is a great conditioning class! It does not take much coordination either (I am always scared of the kick boxing classes and step which require coordination)

Ok girls, you are motivating me. I will keep repeating to myself 'I will not spazz out in gym class, I will not spazz out in gym class'

I will definitely take some of the lighter weights. Thanks for the reco Jenna!!!

do it so I can vicariously live through you. I am too uncoordinated to take classes with other people

you can totally do that one. NYSC right? the challenging ones for me are the step and dance type ones - those I'm too chicken to take! I won't go beyond spin or yoga!

maybe I'll take one with you and we can spaz together!

Re: Update: Taking a class at the Gym. I did it!!

good for you - you inspired me tonight cindy. I got to the gym, got on the treadmill and was like wth is stopping me from trying that cardio kickboxing class?? So I did it and it kicked my ASSS. I almost vomited and i know i'm going to be in serious pain tomorrow! But in the end it was such a much better workout than i would have done on my own.

I would totally take one with you; I just recently switched my membership so i can go to all of them. I'm a big fan of spin but kind of hate the sign-up process - people sign up and don't show; crunch did it first come first serve which is just better.

Why are you scared to take Cardio Kickboxing???

I have posted about it before. It changed my life. For the short time that I did it, I have never felt so good, or been in such great shape ever. If I would've kept up with it, I would have a sick body right now lol I only did like 4 weeks of it, maybe 2-3 times a week and I lost so much weight.

I was nervous the first time I took a class too! Im so clumsy but I ended up loving it and now I stand up front all the time. Those classes are the next best thing to having a trainer without paying for it!

I know! I realized that the workout was basically like the workout my trainer gave me! I was like 'ok, I know what I'm doing here...'

Yes, it was definitely hard and I'm a bit sore today!!! But I took your advice and went with the lower weights to ease myself into it.
