I have never been to Acapulco. But Cancun was beautiful. We visited while we were in Cozumel.

Never been to Acapulco and only Cancun on spring break in college like 10 years ago...but I went on my Mexico vacation in May. We decided on and loved Playa del Carmen - (Aventura Spa Palace). You fly into Cancun and then it is about an hour drive to the resort. They have bus trips as well to Cancun to enjoy the Cancun nightlife - if you are into the crazier night scene.

I went to Cancun for 9 days a few yrs ago.I even swam with dolphins & have it on video!
Cancun is more party-ish.
John went diving in Cozumel & he loved it there, nicer than Cancun, more couple-like.
Cozumel's waters are amazing he says.

I went to Cancun for my senior yr of HS, 11 yrs ago!
I can't even remember the name of the hotel, but it was on the touristy strip and was nice. The one thing I didn't like was that for the entire week, I felt like I was back in NY. EVERYONE we met was from LI, NYC, Queens, Brooklyn, etc. Maybe it was just the time of year though - spring break.

Chris and I actually met in Cancun so of course I love it there. Cancun is beautiful, but you have to becareful what month your're going. It can be a huge party place and not just college kids, high school kids go there also.We went back a couple of years ago in April and it was quite empty and very romantic. If you decide to go there I would suggest talking to a travel agent just to see which months are the 'party' months.

We vacationed in Acapulco years ago. It was a great trip, but I don't know if I'm in a rush to return.The good-gorgeous hotel (Acapulco Princess), great resturants, lots to do, awesome clubs to party at.
What we didn't like-hotel was a cab ride to the 'main strip'...negotiating a cab fare was quite an ordeal, lots of vendors (some kind of relentless) on the beach, beach was not powdery/sugary soft-more of a hard/packed sand, sick belly all week.
We met people who were staying at Las Brisas-it looked very nice, not on the beach, though.
I've never been to Cancun. While I've heard it's a definite party town, there are also quieter, more romantic areas in the Mayan Riviera. We're looking into Cozumel, Playa del Carmen or Tulum for next year's vacation.
