Well I was away for a week for our last 'alone' vacation before baby comes. I am sure at some point in the future we can do this again, but it will be a while so we really wanted to enjoy this time together.
We went to CA for a friend's wedding. Scott was in the wedding party. I must say that the trip was harder on me than I had hoped and that with the compressed nerve issues it was just not as enjoyable. But in the end, I am glad I went because I really didn't want to miss the wedding.
We flew first-class so that helped A LOT. But I had to use the bathroom every 15 minutes or so- I am not lying here- so I felt like an a$$. I kept taking a drink and running to the bathroom. People must have thought I was nuts or something. Anyway, we had dinner with my aunt/uncle the first night and that was really nice. we don't see them often.
The next day we drove for almost 6 hours to the wedding area- about an hour or so outside of Santa Barbara. Very beautiful coastline, of course. Here I am in all my pregnancy glory

Now some of you may know that I have a very real fear of sharks. I have never been attacked- Thank God- but I do not go into the water at all, hate boats of all kinds and honestly, am not a beach person. I don't tan well and feel like a whale in a bathing suit, but that isn't why I really dislike the beach. I am just 100% plain afraid of being in the water with a very large fish that can eat me in 3 bites- maybe less.
Anyway 2 days before we get to our beach front hotel a women is killed by a great white shark. It is the 1st attack in 10 years and it happens the week I am arriving . It happened right across from the hotel! We had to be given a warning notice when we checked in. Needless to say I didn't really go on the beach at all. Here I am on a local Pier (another beach area though) where the sea lions play on the docks. They were super cute and you could hear them barking to each other. I needed my sunglasses on for the photo!
The wedding was on the casual side and the GMs all wore Hawiian shirts. Stef found this dress for me on oldnavy.com for $12.99!!! You cannot beat that.
I felt rather 'big' most of the trip too. And one women who worked at the hotel stopped me and asked when I was due. I told her 11/29 and that I was 26 weeks pregnant. She looks at me and says 'so you are having twins'

I started to cry. I mean, if I were having twins that would be fine but it made me feel like a whale.

and i have only gained 16 freakin pounds and I know that I am carrying high but I felt awful. Later that day I went back into the office and said to her 'What you said about the twins was RUDE and HURTFUL. Maybe you should think about how bad you could make a women feel' She was shocked and apologized over and over again, but I told her 'Listen, you need to think before you open your mouth. You made me feel awful and you have no right to make a pregnant women feel badly about her weight gain' and I walked out as she kept saying 'OMG. I am sooo sorry. I never meant to upset you'. But I was upset.
Anyway the wedding was nice and we are very happy for our friends. I was happy to come home to Beemer and my house and my LIW friends
